7c makes the 2021 investor dividend return about 24% at this share price!
Hi Rogue, just watched your youtube bit.....good info on the suspension in Madagascar - well tracked down. I think small investors really should consider your comments regarding both how the rights were awarded, how potential land owners weren't consulted, and the road through a sensitive area. I think it will illuminate whether one should buy/hold/sell.
I do think that whilst, on the face of it, that would make progression there highly unlikely, the very reasons why it might not progress, are also the very reasons why it could. if BASE do the right thing. if they share the wealth it could generate, involve local landowners, build infrastructure not just for the extraction (of profits) but for the benefits of the local inhabitants/economy, build a road out a longer less direct, but less impactful on the environment route, they could take concerns, objections and make them into opportunities. by investing in the locals, they mat reduce the rights lifetime profits from 500 mill to 300 mill, but surely 300 mill is worth giving up 200 mill for?
to my mind, if you discount, i.e. write off Madagascar, the profits (dividends), over the remaining 3 years of Kwale plus the cash in hand are equal to its current valuation. So to me, if your not trying to turn a quick buck, at worst, you will break even, with the 'free' possibility of a Madagascan windfall. I make that low risk overall.
Announced today in Australia
Guess we will get announcement tomorrow
All looks good dividend to be paid Sept !!

Hi hxulcolrdoh couldn’t agree more with you regarding Madagascar on both points
Regarding treading water Base are accumulating huge amounts of cash currently if they can extend mine life in Kenya for a few more years I am happy to take the dividend each half year.
EITI and World bank are on the case of the Madagascan government to get the mining up and running to bring cash into the country but who knows.
OT
Thanks for link OT!
I'm watching BSE. It could become very interesting if Toliara gets approved. It will tread water if not. I don't have much faith in the competence of the Madagascar government though ( how could anyone given that Madagascar comes in at 217 on this list ..

)
Evening hxulcolrdoh Tim Carstens does touch on it in this podcast from last week along with Tanzania

Meanwhile Madagascar follows its traditional route ( an unstable, incompetent, riven basket case ). God knows if/when Toliara will ever happen.

Good strong update cash keeps growing and Tanzania was unexpected hopefully another dividend to be announced
Quarterly Activities Report Due soon hopefully an update on mining extension in Kenya and news on Toliara would be most welcome. Price of ilmenite at record prices from twitter they seem to be gaining plenty of traction with locals in Kwale which bodes very well for mining extension.

The latest dividend has been paid Net without the Australian Tax being deducted. Great news. I overlooked this in the recent RNS which said:-
Conduit Foreign Income
The FY21 Half-Year Dividend will be wholly paid from Conduit Foreign Income. Accordingly, non-Australian resident depositary interest holders will not be subject to any Australian dividend withholding tax on the FY21 Half-Year Dividend.
They have obviously listened to disgruntled shareholders!! Well done BASE Resources
re original post ...
or maybe they won't be able to eek out some breathing space in Kenya
Did anyone get theirs refunded. We’ve submitted the required forms etc. back in October but not even had an acknowledgement. Very poor.
