Dead Heat
The election also got closer on Wednesday, with the Alliance gaining a seat in the count to 143 versus Lofven’s group of parties getting 144 lawmakers in the 349-seat parliament. The Sweden Democrats appear to have won 62 seats. All sides have declared themselves winners, with the opposition gaining on Lofven’s bloc. He has refused to resign, citing his coalition’s higher seat count.
The opposition’s proposal to form a government was both “illogical” and “undemocratic,” Lofven said.
While refusing to become a support party, Lofven said he was open to talks with all parties, as well as cooperation on a host of issues. What’s needed now is “humility” and “objectivity,” he said. The Alliance has to decide whom they dislike less, the Social Democrats or the Sweden Democrats, he said.
The Alliance earlier in the day made clear it would try to oust Lofven as soon as the new parliament is seated on Sept. 24. The opposition leaders also said that they won’t put down their votes and allow Lofven to continue to rule a minority coalition, as he has over the past four years, and will deny the Left Party any influence. The Alliance won’t seek the support of the nationalist Sweden Democrats, but vowed to “respect” its voters, which make up about 17 percent of the electorate.
Another good interview with KB today Beowulf lovar 550 jobb i 25 år Gruvbolaget Beowulfs ledning lovar att skapa 550 jobb i Jokkmokk – om bolaget får bryta malm i Kallak.
#svpol When others count mandate and percentage, we continue work for a good labour market in the municipality of jokkmokk. Today I'm talking to Kurt budge over a cup of coffee about the investment climate. Glesbygdskommunernas weak growth requires constructive politicians who stand up for jobs throughout Sweden. #Svpol

This is what Robert Bernhardsson, Social Democratic City Council in Jokkmokk believes. Robert Bernhardsson: My assessment is that it has become more favorable because the Environmental Party has so heavily backed at national level and also left the Region of Norrbotten. Per Vallgårda: Is it your opinion that the fact that the Environment Party has been in the government is what has made no decision on the matter from the government during the last year? Robert Bernhardsson: Yes, my picture is that the Environmental Party has blocked many issues relating to investments and jobs. Per Vallgårda: Also the Kallak question? Robert Bernhardsson: Yes, absolutely, it's something that Sweden's rural communities need to meet the challenges of the future - then there's more investment and more jobs. And here the Environment Party has had a completely different agenda. Per Vallgårda: So - yes to Kallak do you believe? Robert Bernhardsson: Yes, definitely, it is extremely important for Jokkmokks municipality. We would significantly broaden our tax base. - End of interview -
- **** på intervju: In text form (audio to text on mobile and fined manually) - Local news P4 Norrbotten 2018-09-13 14:30 - Per Vallgårda, P4 Norrbotten - Robert Bernhardsson, Social Democratic Municipal Council in Jokkmokk Per Vallgårda: The issue of granting permission to break the Kallak mine in Jokkmokk has long been on the government board, and the environmental party's decline in national policy can bring the Kallak mine closer to mining permits. KUrt Budge is in Sweden today...
Posted already, but Copperstone were given official notification months before they were actually granted their licence, and it was communicated via an RNS given that it was market sensitive. So yes, a ‘nod’ can happen!
my hope/expectation is that a new Gov't is formed by 25 September and a new Mining Minister is appointed who makes some clear noises about supporting mining (it's not just our licence that's been held up) - then a more specific nod in our direction - that will do for me. All do-able this year.
I think that is fair Ed, but your timescale leaves only three more months, which isn't very long. A few more weeks for the post-election dust to settle perhaps, and you are only then allowing Kurt two months in which to kickstart the Swedes into action. I'm giving it until April Ed, that way we'll have six months for Kurt to press after dust settling, and it'll be the six year birthday party on our application. If a decision comes this year it will be most appropriate of course, but Kurt needs a bit more leeway himself from us, in my view, in order to sort this, considering the new Government coalition will only have been in operation a short time. Well, hopefully a new Government will be formed within the next few weeks. Lol. We do know Kurt will go in pressing for us after the dust settles. He's said as much, which is what I wanted to hear, so we need to support him by sticking with it, if we can. As frustrating as it may be. Only my thoughts. Best wishes. Cheers Ed.
Yep
It’s the end game ed44... it comes down to to a simple yes or no.
Seems like old news.... ?
I thought this Bloomberg interview with Carl Bildt was interesting
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-09-11/sweden-s-final-vote-count-gets-tense-as-no-one-concedes-defeat
Thanks for sharing that link, very interesting
Seeing all of the back and forth buck passing that's taken place over the years all listed in date order has really opened my eyes to what's been going on.
All that has happened is that the various agencies have played table tennis with our application without any intention of ever making any sort of decision. Hopefully the new government will be more positive regarding decision making.
If that doesn't happen soon it's time for Kurt to get his fighting hat on and take the battle to the courts as there are no genuine reasons for not awarding the exploitation permit. Kurt has handled all of the issues regarding for example the green issues and the routing of ore shipping to protect the reindeer migration routes even though they are only used for a few days twice a year.
I've had enough of this nonsense now and I'll be selling our shares and moving on if there is no decision by the end of this year. It's time for my wife and I to get on with our lives instead of monitoring this share every day.
Fingers crossed for a decision soon.

Enjoy... The sport of kings for me this weekend. And yes... it’s been a tiring process, and we are not there yet.
Yes, everybody's exhausted. we need a bit of a breather for the next lap; I'm going away to Somerset for the weekend, so don't imagine I'm sulking, just a bit tired of being excited.
