My share save was due out that year, optioned at £5.
such a fail ...
I’m certainly not considering any outcome with BP assets in Russia to end positively.
The war is going to last for years IMO, the screw will be tightened further, and any western assets are going to be swallowed up by Russia. Write it off like BP have themselves.
I might be surprised, but I doubt it. Russia will not be trusted for a generation or more by the West to build trade again in any significant way.
Although sadly, they could well flourish within BRICS as that is growing, in size and popularity, with a reserve currency being established backed by the most amount of physical Gold you could ever imagine.
Tough times for the West, unless we ramp up arms for Ukraine and potentially troops to support on the ground. Tough to hear, but we stand up or roll over.
All IMO which counts for nothing of course.
On top of this Michael Bury has taken a position in BP... interesting..
The Summer driving season, lasting from Memorial Day on Monday 27th May to Labour Day is a few days away Typically, during driving season, U.S. gasoline consumption is approximately 400,000 bpday above the average for spring and autumn. Typically, above average consumption raises demand and can lift the price of oil.
This will be an interesting period to assist in seeing if physical demand is strong or not. My money is on brent at least maintaining the low 80s for the rest of the year into 2025, excluding small temporary pull backs, but I would not be surprised at all to see a push up into the 90s, dependent on Opec+ rolling over the cuts, by early June. ( kiss of death warning ! ) and strong demand and inventory draws.
United States API Weekly Crude Oil Stock is released tonight, May 21st at 20:30 GMT The oil price at that time will tell you if there is a large crude draw from inventories or otherwise.
An API data draw of around +3M is the minimum in my opinion required before US holiday weekend, backed by EIA data on Thursday.
We'll see in an hour or so.

That’s all true but that was with TNK BP.
Rosneft cleaned up that mess by buying BP out with Putins approval.
From then on Dudley had good relationship with Rosneft and Russian government
Bob Dudley and the Russians? I seem to remember the BP offices in Moscow getting raided. Dudley had to get out of the country and some small rumour about poisoning.
Going back further Lord Browne got burnt twice or maybe more times with Russian aquisitions?
The whole of the joint assets with Rosneft were written off in Feb 2022 with the invasion? $25billion
Nightpusher.
Perfect summary
As on seller leaves a buyer picks up the baton.
Yield obviously has more to do with sp than div.
One of my first costly lessons was chasing yield.
Found out within a couple of months why yields were so good.
Drop in div expected with next results.
Still learning

Yes and then a little later I sold some BP shares at MY all time best price of £6.48.
Lucky devil as it was about that time that I bought my first 2 tranches of BP,£25K each, dont like to look at the contract notes but I did top up as it plummeted down to somewhere in the region of £2.93 in later weeks.
my view on how you would describe our dividend yield in per cent is to point out that as the share price goes lower the yield goes up and has a tendency to make people quote that it is a good dividend, but if the share could maintain last 2 highs the divi yield would be lower so best to look at the actual dividend paid per annum in pence and then check how much it was 5 years ago and one might come to the conclusion that it is a poor dividend now especially if you take into account recent inflationary pressures.Just my opinion and yes I would get out but cannot find a suitable stock to buy into save my old company SLB which does have that look that it is capable of growing 25% in the next 18 months.
“Think I remember someone saying that 15 years ago at 600p.”
Yes and then a little later I sold some BP shares at MY all time best price of £6.48.
And then came the oil spill and wiped over $60 billion of the company value.

BP plc has announced the issuance of a series of Guaranteed Notes totaling $2.5 billion, with varying maturity dates ranging from 2027 to 2034. The notes have been fully authorized and are considered valid and legally binding obligations of the company, in accordance with English law and the laws of New York and Delaware. This move is set to bolster BP’s financial structure and provide investors with new opportunities in the fixed-income market.
They purchased back $1Billion in higher yield notes in February. These guaranteed notes are at lower rates but still an additional to debt.
Have a great day all

Here we go... not buying at >460p, took a position in NESTE this morning

At least with Tony Hayward there were some laughs.
BP are starting to remind me of the British car industry in the 1970's
Time is ripe for us to be gobbled up by a larger, professionally run Big Oiler - who will surely restructure to achieve the true potential of our assets and strategy.
How much are we worth ???
Surely significantly more than today’s SP - plenty of knowledge on here to vector a probable value ;)
I'm beginning to think that this ridiculously low share price is lookinging suspicious!! Have you ever noticed that very often , just before a bid , a share price is driven to to unaccountable low levels. The next thing is that a bid is made....and hey presto, the share is up.by 33%!!!! I would not be surprised to see this share go to £4.50.....before jumping to £6.50!!

Hi Jakers
Think previously BP via Dudley had a very strong Relationship with Rosneft CEO who has Putins ear.
Don’t know if current BP CEO has had much involvement with them or not.
But BP did do a lot for Russia, as an early mover, and happily followed Russian rules,so never say never
WP I am glad you are also having problems with the site I was starting to think it was only me, and maybe an internet problem
Not getting caught at the value trap here again, I'm a buyer only at
