I make this the 5th consecutive year of some people wittering on about oil shortages and supply tightness. It doesn’t seem to matter what short-term supply shocks occur, as the ensuing release of reserves, demand destruction and possibly some futures shenanigans bring the price crashing down again.

The global oil market is an extraordinarily nimble and efficient beast.
