I should have thought that this whole business is somewhat academic, though I may be wrong. Surely, many of the long-time denizens of this board (though not including me) know each other's identities perfectly well anyway, through having attended AGMs, visited the mine and/or socialised at the Tyndrum Inn together. Or do you continue to use noms de plume in each other's company?

You and me both, Blakeney. I have been entertained by RM's erudite and hugely-referenced posts for years, without ever understanding a single word of any of them. I somehow imagine him as the Master of an Oxford College. Maybe we'll never have his company at a knees-up at the Tyndrum Inn, but perhaps he'll invite us to dine at High Table some evening. If so, it would be the first time I'll have worn an academic gown since 1971.

Hello Samson, yes, I am battle weary to the point of exhaustion. Hence what glen has called my "pessimistic guff". The only point I disagree with you slightly about is the one about the company not needing new investors. Without new folk wanting to buy in, I don't see the steady rise in share value that you hope for. If it's just going to be we long-term investors here with, as you say, no intention to sell, then surely the share price in unlikely to rise at all. Glen is spot on, I can see more red days for a long time to come.

Yes, Samson, my reaction as well. I don't have rose-tinted glasses of monumental dimensions, I didn't expect we'd all be millionaires. But, like you, I didn't see any "news already priced in" as the catalyst for what now would seem to have the hallmark of an inexorable fall in value. I said yesterday, I fear that this is "on the skids", and once 100 is broken (downwards) we could almost end up anywhere. I cannot agree with several of our friends on here that "this was perhaps to be expected". No, it shouldn't have been.

What you say is indisputably true, Samson. I think the body blow to many of us is due to the ten years or more that we have waited so far. You'll have gathered that several of we "old lags" on here are just that... old! The "other prospects better developed" conjure up visions of years and years more of the same. It's like saying to someone who's just scaled the north face of the Eiger, "Well, that was the nursery slope. Next, the mountain".

Hello R, I'm not quite so worried about our expectations being ahead of reality as I am about where we go from here.

With so little market interest being shown in SGZ on this, the biggest day in its long history, I fear that buys can now only dwindle to a trickle and we could be on the slippery slope back down to the levels of a year or two ago. I'm certainly bracing myself to see sub-100 before Xmas.

Hello R, Oh don't get me going on Black Friday! I had hoped that the one and only benefit of Covid would be that we'd be spared this annual absurdity. And indeed we won't be seeing those news reports of hordes of people trampling each other underfoot to get their hands on something that they'd never have bought anyway, or have any purpose for, except it's 50% cheaper! But, as I feared, it's all happening online. Like all of us, I guess, I have been deluged this morning with 'Black Friday' emails, offering 'Massive Discounts' on just about everything... including houses'.
