Happy New Year, Bellers. Yes, Monday is a bank holiday up here. But bank holidays are quite often honoured in the breach by businesses, so I don't know how SGZ will keep it.

From all of us in the village... me, my dear parents, Mr and Mrs Keeper, my Aunt Maud and the two babies I found on the canal towpath after my holidays with her, Ned (who may have had something to do with this), Miss Wemyss (Good Golly, Miss Molly on the harmonium last night was truly awesome!), the Reverend and Mrs Grimm, Sir Jasper, Lady Juanita, Lady Hermione (waving from behind the bars of the asylum), the Hon. Basil (Mark 1), the Hon. Basil (Mark 2), Silas (who may have had something to do with Mark 2 and the banishment to the asylum), Mr Patel, and... of course!... Champion the Wonder Horse.

Unfortunately also, baz, the languishing has become a bit of slipping. I said three or four weeks ago that if we broke 100 (in the downwards direction, that is), we could end up almost anywhere. Personally I've never actually understood the psychology of these magic 'round numbers', why a share will, say, hover around 49.5 for weeks after weeks without 'breaking 50'. It often seems to be a psychology that is in a parallel universe to a company's performance or prospects, but there it is. I hope that I have a misplaced negativity on this occasion and that we don't head further down to 90 and beyond. GLA

Ah, baz, but SGZ does "languishing" so well. Honed to an art form over so many years. If the rest of the markets were erupting like Vesuvius, SGZ could keep us all safely cocooned in a languish to end all languishes.

Let's all hope so, Bellers and Mr R. Let's hope 2021 doesn't join the catalogue already populated by 2012, 2017 and 2018 - years in which SGZ was supposed to "come good".

Hello all, I echo the sentiments of all of you. I have had exactly the same experience all year. Several times. Sitting through 2 or 3 minutes of "We continue to operate a locked door policy. If you are boiling with heat like you've never boiled before, and you have massive red pustules erupting over your entire body, then don't bother us. F Off and dial the local garage". And as for hospital out-patient appointments? Do you seriously expect me to believe that my arthritis consultant has been diverted 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, for the best part of a year, in acting in a front-line capacity in the fight against Covid?

It's continuing the same pattern, Morar. It happens every time. Like you I can never understand why these "necessary" measures to combat "the virus that doesn't sleep" are timed to give the dear old virus a little bit more time to avoid combat.

These regulations always seem to have a element of the bizarre about them, Bellers. I have never understood why every time "essential retail" is announced garden centres are classed as "essential" but electrical shops aren't.

You beat me to the punch with the "work from home if possible" bit, RM, in connection with the construction sector. Oh well, last lockdown I spent doing a lot of gardening. This time I shall be constructing a very small gold mine where the antirrhinums have now died down.

Morning Eck and all, I thought that these days we'd got this super-duper PR agency working for us. Which I'd hoped would have answered a major 'complaint' I've had for years and years about AIM companies in general. That, while they are run by (hopefully) first-rate - possibly even world-beating - engineers or miners (or even accountants), such people at the top cannot be expected to have embraced professional skills in PR and Communications along with their own. And these companies are also too small, presumably, to have their own in-house practitioners, certainly not at board level. As a consequence, while the engineering and the mining might be world-beating, communications by AIM companies are too often abysmal. Sadly, SGZ itself has at times been no better than others. Which, as I say, is why I thought things would have improved now we have -apparently - a PR agency to advise and guide us.

I happened to use the words 'Vice President Pence' quite innocently and not disrespectfully in a Facebook post yesterday, and the post did not present immediately like all others, but was subject to a kind of 'wait a minute' message from the Facebook Police.

Morning RM, I may have mentioned this before. My dad served in the same Home Guard unit as Jimmy Perry, who wrote 'Dad's Army'. I discovered this after dad had passed, he never mentioned it and my guess is that he sat through those episodes in the 70s without ever reading the credits and making the connection himself.

I am the same as you, Bellers. If I make any profit on this I want to put it towards what will quite likely be my last house move. "Big rewards" are OK if you have at least two more decades to wait for them and enjoy them but, if not, why not settle for "middling rewards".

With you, Bellers, I'll give it until the late spring or summer, after which I might do the same as you and slip away. If there's nowt to show by the middle of next year I think the pace might finally have slowed just that tad too much for me. It's been arduous to be a shareholder, to say the least... remember how we had to wait a whole year to get the planning permission? I've no doubt everyone is right and it will come good in the end but, as I say, I think by the middle of next year I'll call it a day.
