Better numbers than I thought. There's definitely some stress in the holiday market but Jet2 are clearly performing well in a more difficult environment.

As expected and the same as last year they will give information in November on this year projections.

I think that the market expected worse.

Look at the chart, it's just rinse and repeat. The share is being played, don't push against the tide. The challenge is breaking through £6 and staying there.

We should get a good steer on summer performance tomorrow. The Jet2 AGM statement has previously been very detailed. This should read across to easyJet as really the two businesses are most similar.

It will be interesting to get a summer update tomorrow in the AGM statement. Jet2 usually provide quite a lot of detail on the most important quarter of the year.

I expect them to hold off from full year guidance until November.

Certainly in the case of Japan with substantial domestic debt they won't be converting dollars to yen as the withdraw from the US so in my mind it makes sense to fund purchases and investments that can be liquidated locally in Japan using existing liquidity. How else can they manage without printing more yen.

I suspect that no more than 5% of the talk will convert to action.

You have to ask yourself if chaos is a good environment to invest in. The US people are heavily in debt, America is the poorest country in the world given the massive debt. Their social systems are weak and their biggest asset which is human is dripping through their fingers as they report workers. The whole stagflation scenario is looming for trumps America

How about the EU pledges, Japanese pledges. We all know this is actually withdrawal of US debt into commodities rather than US dollars.

Stumpy. I see what the pharma industry are saying. The same several other industries also said but the words aren't met by actions in most cases. There are lots of examples of industry that committed prior to trump who have since frozen their plans. Siemens is one example. They are moving extremely slowly through their US expansion.

The reality of creating production in America is very harsh.

It will suit some pharma because they can create a US product at a much higher price point but the volume won't match the pledges. This doesn't have anything to do with tariffs it's simply to separate from global pricing.

The tariffs will be withdrawn as it will be the only option to stimulate the economy. Despite pledges nobody is actually going to invest in the chaos of trumps America.

Stability and certainty brings investment not threats and intimidation. The toxicity of America means that globally they become isolated. My fear for the UK is that they are too close to America and the virus of stupidity sinks the UK as well.

There are no winners here just losers and bigger losers.

Trumps MO is moronic and it doesn't matter how much he lies it is only going to deliver stagflation to America.

There are 3 options.

A substantial global conflict

Massive government stimulus

Removing trade barriers.

Global stimulus is off the table because American debt will be very hard to place when trump takes over the fed.

It leaves just the tariffs in my opinion, it may not be enough. We see now why Powell is keeping his powder dry.

Really. It's reached the point I expected now. Oil is strongly up today. I will re-enter around this level.

Trump is steering the US economy into the gutter whilst creating massive global instability. He has undermined confidence in the dollar and accelerated China forward 20 years in global leadership.

The UK is particularly exposed to US failure and I fear they will be dragged down with America.

Who is this market that's concerned? It largely doesn't exist, it's not a thinking entity and there's no collective thought. It's gone down and people are frightened it goes down further. Fear is winning over greed right now.

The "market" does analyse the fine points of anything.

It asks one question, will it go up or down. A few days down, the boards are red so it's going down. That's the same for good bad and ugly shares.

Is the tide in or out and when will it change

It will be interesting to hear what Jet2 has to say in their AGM statement. They normally set the tone for how the summer went. I am expecting a positive outcome.

I am light on easyJet right now, I made a bit on the last dip. There's a depression hanging over the UK market at the moment. Confidence is low. All can change

If you cherry pick routes then easyJet fly more. Luton Málaga easyJet 3 times a day and ryanair about 5 times a week. Different story at Stansted.

On the face of it ryanair thinking UK is a good market should have sent easyjet up. However ryanair has shut themselves out of many locations in dispute over costs.

Ryanair unhealthy obsession with price is holding the sector back.

Easyjet are consistently more expensive but fly mainly full planes.

Predictable bounce today. The event yesterday was another manufactured trip of stop losses.

I don't understand why people rush to seal in a loss but it's up to them.

£4.80s to £5.20s just seems to be playing the range at the moment.

It goes up or down on nothing.

That is technically debt as it maybe refunded but that can't be counted as debt because the more successful they are the more prepaid business they have and we know less than 1% is refunded.

Technically future lease payments are also debt.

They have some bonds I believe and they have aircraft in ownership.

The business is cash rich but they have an ambitious near term expansion.

Ryanair are 4.8% down

Jet2 are 3.5% down

So often the price has risen with absolutely no rhyme or reason and today it's done the opposite.

obviously things are ****ty in the uk but that's nothing new and has been the case since brexit.

i don't buy the doom and gloom for a business that's performing well and up to a couple of hours ago was up on the day. a drop and stops are triggered, it happens.

i think that it would help if easyjet bought shares back aggressively but they are running an airline.

Carrington why do you think it will fall?? It goes up and down with no information from the company. easyJet news is well documented but despite that it's moved up and down on no news thousands of times.

Next news of interest is Jet2 AGM statement on 4th September which normally gives a snapshot of summer performance.

I have taken more on this drop and I fully expect it to go back up.

Today airlines have been hit and tomorrow it will be a different story.
