Do you believe the stats that China releases?
Do you trust Innova test results?
Do you know any virus that once a vaccine is available also has mass testing running alongside it?

PL, We have clashed from the start but lets take a step back.
We have no real idea how bad this crisis is. We can't on this board, highlight the almost 50/50 accuracy (or inaccuracy) of the main test that has been employed and then at the same accept all the stats as true for infections and deaths as covid related. If we assume that the rate infection is correct however, and allowing a for asymptomatic cases we are looking at maybe 3/4 mil per week . How long is it to heard immunity? 12-15 months (give we have had a year of it already)? Plus in the next 12 months as I mentioned much earlier, once vaccines are available the govt will move heaven and earth to get everyone jabbed, and so it is proving. So by September we will have everybody bar the very least affected, vaccinated, plus we will have had 18 plus months of natural infections given protection.
As I also mentioned much earlier the testing window is there, but is much smaller and shrinking every day. I also said this was, right or wrong, a covid stock, as can be evidenced by the non reaction to very good news out last week.
If you are a long term holder you may not care about any of this and that's fine. But many legitimately bought this on the back of AS, right back in April, espousing how good AVCT tech was or would be in the fight against Covid.
I am still confused about Bams, because apparently its approved and proved to work but we still have to get it approved in the UK and neither Codor or even AVCT independently have done that yet. This in the face of the most serious crisis this country has faced since global conflict. (so I don't buy Condor is slow as the reason. AS would have been talking at higher levels in the govt a long time ago to move this along if it was to be so effective.)
Too many emotional excuses are made for this company. We don't have a test, we have never had a test and we only assume we are going to get one based on now, an demonstrably unreliable source.
So, my position is long term Cancer therapy still looks to have fantastic potential. Covid, I have no idea if we will now even get a test out. I agree with you that has the other treatments that AVCT develop and are developing now, must logically help underpin the SP should it be the case that no covid revenue comes in, but I would still expect a fall of about 50p-60p as a minimum in that (worse case) scenario.
I have no idea if I am right or wrong in my analysis, but at some stage, as an investor and not member of a cult, I have to put some sort of timescales in place even if they are arbitrary. I think if still no covid news is released by the end of next week then I only have my doubts reinforced and I am sure I won't be alone.

Hi Bouncer, I would be happy with a price in the mid- high 5's prior to (good) figures. If the market thinks they are going to be very good then I think 6p plus is possible prior to the TU. But it will be what it will be. (It can't be anything else I spose...)

There are 2 quite separate issues here. Boohoo the business, whether that's from Rags pov or Dans, and the Shareprice and how its valued.
As we are shareholders is the SP that is most important. It sometimes coincides with the Boohoo the business but mostly because it looks 6-12 months ahead, is determined by different peoples opinions of what sales & profits MIGHT be over that timescale.
To have a plan (whether to hold for a long time or to get out at a particular share price point), is a most sensible strategy. There is no right and wrong in this game. You just look at what capital you started with, and see what you have at the end. That's when you can see if you won or lost.

looks like the price has fallen to test the support of around 4.80p if it falls further that will be a pain. but it feels a bit contrived to me. If you are confident then this is a logically place to buy (on a support)

So we are in lockdown and so are China, so what difference did it make what the 2 different countries approach was?

And no, we are not in anyway remotely in total lockdown.
In March, construction, estate agents, solictors car deaerships were all locked down. All of them are working in this lockdown. (That's just a few of the top of my head business's employing many thousands that are still out working more or less as normal.) Basically this lockdown has kept children at home which makes sense because when they all went back to school and UNI that's when the cases picked up again.
I'll stop now due to most here's attention span apparently not being able to cope with more than about 15-30 seconds worth of reading.

Why is the term so disputed. Does it make you feel better to be an investor than a gambler? And if it does why?
Semantics? maybe, but given investing means spending and gambling means not knowing the result of an action.

No harty, that's not fair: Firstly and for the millionth time, nothing posted by us affects the p. Small PI's cannot move the sp. I have a large holding by my standards in this stock. I only want the SP to rise. It makes no difference to the SP whatever I say here. nothing. And also when we want to buy something, don't we all want the lowest price? Do you ever look at your local store for a purchase and than google it to see if you can get it cheaper? What is a short term trader and what is long term. Please tell me. I would love to know what time frames you use.
And yes, they are all gamblers. I honestly don't know why this is contentious. The only thing I can think of is that the term Gambling traditionally has been used at the masses for short term bets and is seen as somewhat, shady or tacky, or people who do it, as undesirable or stupid. In any event I don't think that many people like being associated with the term gambler. However the buying and selling of stocks & shares has, until relatively recently, been the preserve of the wealthy and to get their clients money, they changed the term to "investing" as that confirs an intelligence and respectability that gambling does not have.
All I know is that I can't predict the future and when I buy a stock I have no certainty it will rise. That purchase based on an unknowable outcome pretty much defines gambling to me.

JD: I did not read harty's post that any extra money he found to top up with, would be equally distributed through his portfolio. Obviously if he did that then it would make no diff. But I thought he just wanted to buy more AVCT stock.

Zoom: You (none of us) have any idea what will happen in the future regarding AVCT. We went from saliva to nasal, we have had delays that we don't know the reasons for. (just a couple of things I don't think any of us saw coming) I think we all appreciate that small pharma is a high risk gamble. I am glad you are confident about the betting slip you have bought but quite what else a share certificate is I don't know. You did not give the money when you bought it to avct and you won't get paid out when you sell, from avct. We simply buy shares from 3rd parties on the expectation that they will rise in value. I am not arguing the point of whether or not AVCT will be successful in due course.
Doh: Aother word for investing is spending: Read back your post and put in the word spending. You are spending money on tools and labour etc and gambling that your spending decisions will pay off in the future based on your expert knowledge of the market you work in.
Sipp: I am very sorry to hear of your struggles. I despise the govt, past and present, that have made gambling so easy and accessible. I completely understand how addictive it can be and the terrible consequences that can follow from that, but buying and selling shares is just another form of gambling. it sounds as you have it under firm control though.

Sipp: There is absolutely no difference between the terms gambling and investing when buying shares.
Both parties want to at some point sell their shares for a profit.
Does either party know what the price will be in the future?
If you think the length of time you hold the stock is the difference between an investor and a gambler, how long is that time period?

That's right Wolves, I tried saying that right or wrong, this is seen as a covid stock. Nothing but the test matters.
That's why AVCT share holders were not "robbed" of their 60p when the vaccine news came out. Too many here seem to have fallen in love with this stock, rather than understanding that all they have done is just bought a betting slip

such a great opportunity hartyh that you won't sell any of your 66% portfolio to take advantage, but if you found a few grand down the back of the sofa you would buy more AVCT (which would have the effect of increasing your % of AVCT in your portfolio). So why don't you just sell some other stocks that you own and use those funds?

I think it would be odd to have any further fund raising just after we had the consolidation. The consolidation was deemed necessary because there were too many shares in circulation. Going back down that path would be very strange so quickly after doing the opposite.

TAc, that's why I have always hoped that France takes off (or to begin with establishes itself.) If France takes up EVE then Germany and Spain are obvious expansion routes. The US is of course the other huge market.
However first things first. If EVE have a profitable business model then the SP doubles or more from here. Then takeovers/expansion all come into play further down the line. Right now it's just over 2 weeks to find out if phase 1 is completed
