Does anyone even know when the trading update is? it was 23rd Jan last year, but I can't find a forward date on their website and their investor relations have not responded yet. Have I missed something? It would be interesting to see cash burn and also receivables just to get a feel of where AVCT is financially.

I consider capital preservation whilst buying stocks. I try to get a handle on the downside so I can appreciate what the loss might be If I have made the wrong decision. So I question some posters view of potential income. But that's ok, It doesn't affect me or my decision making on what you think of me, just as you don't care what I say affects yours either.

Nd, do you see tests falling to £1 each? At that level I agree it becomes affordable for the masses , but the profit margin would be what? (I never assumed the test would be that cheap. I though they would be nearer £12 (a packet of fags)

Doh,. the only people I seem to antagonise is PL, you, ES and SS. More often than not I respond to other posters points of view. If their argument (imo) is better than mine I change my view just like last week. If it doesn't then I will defend my position.

I hope AVCT (to the tune of 71386 shares) will do fantastically well over the next 1-5 years. I hope their Cancer therapy & diagnostics will be wildly successful. I hope that they do get a commercial covid test released that will make them millions.
In the meantime until that happy day I will post either posing questions or responding to posts as I see fit.

Yes, Doh, you carry on repeating yourself on the long term benefits of AVCT as you have said the same countless times, but by all means try and shut down anyone else pov you don't like.
And again what difference does my trading make to the argument? I am a trader, by definition I buy & sell on a more frequent basis than some others, so what exactly has that got to do with AVCT?

Doze, I am sorry if I did not answer your point directly. My main point, is that I don't think long term regular testing is viable. It is currently because the vaccines are not rolled out yet in sufficient scale yet nor is anyone sure of their overall effectiveness.
I am pretty sure its not contenscious to suggest more effective vaccines will, or are already on their way. It was just a different view to posters who think testing in a sense is an ongoing solution to this problem

Nd, maybe, but I think are 2 outcomes to this pandemic. One is ultimately in a year or 2 with vaccines and (to a lesser extent) tests available it will be "like" flu, inasmuch there will be annual deaths attributed to it but society will "accept" this.
The other outcome to sustain this level of national and global expenditure, is that this becomes more deadly and mutates too quickly for society to return to "normal". In which case our "old" way of life really is"doomed" as private Frazer would say.
And the other point you make that while a fair argument can be made for an extra £10b to be spent on testing each year, that won't be the only cost of dealing with the pandemic, So it will be a fair bit more than £10b per annum I would think. As for tax revenue At 20% that would imply £50B of sales, but nearer £100b because a lot will be tax deductible one way or the other.
I don't know, time will tell, but testing I don't think, is the long term solution.

Es its nice that you try and keep up however, I said I would reduce. And I have. (well, did) However, at that time the thought that we were outside the bid process and part of a supra national effort involving a few companies had not occurred to me but last week that seemed a plausible explanation for the contradictory statements from only avacta against the lack of any outside verifiable progress.
Anyway, although normally anybody's trading habits or buys and sells are disparaged, but then if you mention it you are told "who cares" what you bought and sold, I topped up yesterday, and again I am sure you will be relieved to know that having traded this over the last month, getting over my FOMO, I have reduced my BE.120p So, all good, and we are just one big happy family

That's the point Nd, its not affordable:
If an extra £10b was affordable then why not spend it prior to the pandemic on better healthcare in the NHS? on protecting the olds better from Flu? We will learn to "live" with this which actually means we will learn to die from this.
There will likely be "free" annual vaccinations for the over 60's or 70's and the resulting annual deaths will be treated just like Flu.

ES, is Avacta just a covid test company then? I think AVCT will make a bundle from tests actually, however I don't see it as long term as others seem to, because the cost ultimately for continued, regular mass testing will be unsustainable

Your petty childish insults aside that you seen incapable of controlling: Where do the stats come from for the news agencies to report? Do you believe there is forced labour going in China. Do you believe in the persecutions of minorities that are going on? China says that's not the case.
If China has such a good accurate test, why isn't the world using it? (They do tend to export their successes.)
This wildly efficient controlling govt, can't seem to stop pandemics originating in their country though?

PL, China has reported, according to Google less than 5000 total covid deaths. (I remember reading a total of a higher amount of 7500, only this week, so its difficult to know what figure to use) but you stated a week so or ago that you trusted China's reporting.
It does seem to beggar belief that in a country so large and so disparate in its gulf between richest and poorest, that it can control so effectively what is happening nationally and yet at the same time its economic growth continues whilst the rest of the world's economic activity shrinks. The UK has had more people die in a week than China has in 10 months. (Plus I imagine the test they use is Innova which we don't think is any good do we?)

I normally take a lot of flack for asking this basic, but fundamental question: Who is going to pay for regular, frequent testing? (and before the usual suspects start the normal ****ging of my posts, I did not bring this up)
At some stage the govt will stop paying and pass it down to business and individuals. If its business, (as your so far, 8 tics suggests a certain agreement on this board with), it will be passed on to their customers so I am pretty sure the individual will probably effectively, pay twice. If the govt pays for testing to public workers then given (before this pandemic), they were never ending arguments trying to justify any further increase in public spending, it can only result in tax increases both to business and the individual.
So with higher taxes, and higher costs of goods and now extra unforeseen costs of testing it and given that most basic rate tax payers don't have masses (some, if any), left over for "luxuries" you have to wonder what quality of life will result.
So the pressure, I think will be on to remove testing sooner rather than later. When is later? I don't know but I don't see 5 years of it for instance, or if this Covid is to remain high profile, then the society norms that are coming are going to very depressing indeed.

But that was she does HH, she never seems to go overboard. It looks to me that if we started the year with £8m and finished the year with £8m we must overall be trading at breakeven, but given there was an 18% increase in sales in the last 6 months that shows eve is now trading at a profit? But no mention of it. And as we all know, thats the golden key to unlocking a further (big) rerate. Certainly I was not the only one who picked up on that. Anyway, as a bit of an aside it is starting to bug me in a small way, that the directors at these very low prices aren't dipping in. They can't all be skint.
I would quite like to stay in but right now I see bigger gains over a shorter term looming, but I think this still has a role to play for some explosive growth at some stage, in the not so distant future.
