I'm not sure the public care that much about testing (certainly not the way we do here!) so I don't expect Boris to make a such a big deal of it if/when it arrives via AVCT. From joe publics POV a test does not "solve" or "cure" anything. If its not free, then its just another overhead to doing whatever JP was going to do before, but is now forced to take a test to do.
However, say the word "Vaccine" and JP thinks "Cure!" That gets the govt some political kudos.
So while our test will be a big deal in the fight against covid I don't think initially at least, there is much or as much mileage as we think, in a big political statement. But it won't make any difference to the SP reaction, it will still rocket, I just am not expecting the news to break via Boris at a press conference. Ultimately the press will figure out the importance and then report on it after the event but by then as I say, the SP will have already reacted.
The public are so fed up now that even a big announcement of a "sovereign solution" including a working track trace app/better test/worlds best vaccine etc etc will not push the dial that much. They just want to go back to normal and don't really care about the detail, and if they don't, the politicians won't bother telling them. (just my 2 cents)

That's not fair JD, AS made a rod for his own back with missed deadlines. We have had no explanation for these missed deadlines. Generally its an assumption its due to NDA's. But that isn't the share holders fault. And characterising the (justified) impatience to the expectation of a 500% SP rise is equally unfair.
Even the TU is now looking slightly overdue, however on that score I am less concerned and expect it is likely being tied into a more detailed update .
But what happened tp Bams? waste water detection?
I am sure all will be revealed and win or lose it will be in the next couple of weeks. Those who are impatient and have waited this long are probably more nervous now as it is fast approaching crunch time, hence many of the posts today expressing their frustration, but probably actually its trepidation.

Its always good to be cautious I have found FTM, but I am not so sure the bubble that has/is formed in the US would be so detrimental to AGL. 12 months ago the SP was 75p and 36 months ago it was 50p, so at todays price of 80p I don't see it in a particular bubble that could be pricked by the US going down. (notwithstanding there have been gyrations in that time),
I think no FDA approval will hurt the SP very much, but that's a different kettle of fish entirely

Ben, as in fact its unlikely AS is taking the **** it probably means AVCT are close to an announcement or results of some sort very soon. This news blackout has been very frustrating for all. If useful data was still too distant we would have had a holding RNS like we did before which as that was below expectations, caused probably more trouble than it was worth, but AVCT had to say something at that time.
So, I think we are close to a meaningful update (a week? 2 weeks at the most?). Will it be positive? (or more accurately, meet expectations? ) We will find out.
The non covid side of the business seems to be progressing very well vis-I-vie the recent RNS's.
Its difficult to conclude that the covid part will disappoint simply because of how publicly pleased AS has been with the progress of it both in results and commercial tie-ups.
Maybe with the update, will come an explanation to the whys and wherefores of what seems to us, to be delay. But maybe not.

I agree Doze, but I am wondering if this is the way to get rid of all the innova tests, but at the same time if it is, how long, (rhetorical, I know we don't and can't know), before the AVCT hits the stands? What if Sujood is right and its April!!!! (although this is the most unlikely scenario as he has not been accurate once in his predictions so far.)
Thing is: if you don't have a confirmatory test, you don't know its a false positive. You just assume you have it. It makes it harder for the govt to tell us all about a new accurate test because the implication is the last one wasn't.
To me would be typical of this govt. Ties itself in knots due to (false) expediency. Maybe the AVCT test will just be "quietly" introduced without national fanfare?

I wondered about that because if the Innova test is particularly bad at producing false positives, then its no real hardship to the govt. You just get more people (even if they are not affected), staying at home for 2 weeks, not getting infected and it all helps in breaking the transmission chain. Plus it frees up resource if no second test is needed to confirm.
More stop gap while we wait for a more accurate test?
Thing is, if the govt can point to lower deaths and infections, specific accuracy, (while crucial to us here on the BB), is likely not to register with the general public.

Could be to quell the reaction of the AZ vaccine's lack of efficacy to the olds?
( i have liked the idea very much of this secret, cabal, of a sovereign supply, as it suggests forward thinking and so far, tight lips. And then I look at the govt's record and It does make you wonder if they are clever enough to get such a test through several different companies organised and buttoned down) Anyway, lets hope they are!

I think so to. The SP is still defying gravity a little bit from a charting point of view but nevertheless, (and its not often I ignore a the charts!) I am buying on every dip and now its my biggest holding.

Does this new policy (or change of tack), exclude the current Innova test? (Its just that my understanding is the govt has stockpiled tens of millions of these, and clearly accuracy of result has not been a critical factor in their distribution and roll out.

Chiron, if it is a move away from centralised testing does that nullify BAMS in a covid sense?
And If the Vaccine does stop the individual spreading the virus, (which as you state is not cleat yet), does that not negate the demand for wide scale testing rather than enhance it?

Thanks Pedro, (obviously I agree as I did buy at these prices), but given the natural and understandable bias on this board I was hoping to get some feedback on, with all the silence and delays, if (as you say) hypothetically, other posters would feel confident at buying in now.

Pedro, I share your view of the potential, but can I ask you this? You say you won't sell (perfectly fine and fair enough), but say you had not bought yet. Would you buy now (today) at this price?
