Not so much a hold but maybe a buy now? Charts are on a support line so it may attract some buyers at this level. (and my beloved RSI is not screaming "Buy" but nevertheless there is plenty of headroom to move up.

What has been demonstrable now, is that when demand surges the SP can move dramatically very quickly, albeit those moves seem to have been an orchestrated pump and dump.

The only caution I have is that when I have loaded up in the past its very difficult to get out in any meaningful block, and I have to sell in smaller parcels and that illiquidity is a brake on bigger (much bigger than me) investors potentially coming in.

On the plus side, CC would not be committing expansion into France and using some of the precious £8m (or £9M :0)) and taking on more staff unless she was confident of the city reaction to the full figures. Maybe this will be the "Rabbit out of the Hat" results?

Not to be Pedantic D, but did you see the VOX interview with AS of AVCT? (There is no phase 3, AVCT should know this year the results and then all being well, bingo! (If you haven't seen it I recommend it. Its very reassuring) ;0))

Truly I have learnt the hard, expensive way on every form of trade.

With a plan, without a plan, having a plan but not sticking to it, LTBH, (BP oil disaster, thanks very much), Fundamental Analysis, Technical Analysis, leveraged, long/short, Day trading, (emotional wreck), options, futures, indices, and now very genteelly, my own unleveraged money messing about on any stock that for whatever reason hoves into view using a hybrid of a bit of research and a lot of TA. (And at last it seems to work for me)

Sorry to go on everyone, but a point I didn't make that I think is crucial about the "gambling" aspect:

You start with £10k and lose 50%. Now that remaining £5k has to DOUBLE for you to just get back to where you started . And all sudden its a mountain.

OK, that's an easy simplified example, but none of us buy a stock expecting to go down and even if we accept the risk we say "well, worst case, I might lose 5 or 10%" and it does not seem so dramatic, but you only have to lose a few times to realise you are down to £8k and now you need 25% increase to get back to square 1. Then the urge to take bigger risks to get that money back quickly, & all at once can seep into the consciousness an affect decision making.

I mention all of this because I have made over the years every single, possible mistake in buying & selling shares and I often recognise the signs now where it can look like others are doing the same thing.

Forgive me if it all sounds patronising or you all know this and have not been, or are, as dumb as me. Its not my intention to come across as "know it all" but if it helps at all with anyone potentially recognising any of this in their own thought processes then its worth taking, from my point of view a bit of stick over from other posters who are not interested. Regarding Aim Shares D, no, this is a bit of foray for me. I have traded with mixed success Fevertree, (made a ton through the ups and downs on the overall upward trend and then got caught on the wrong side and traded it not very well on the way down thereafter losing a lot of the gains). And then did well on BooHoo without really noticing because of the MK Cap of the 2 companies, that they were on AIM. (And the same with EVE but never committed more than a few £k at a time because the risk seemed very high, but again I was lucky, Recently I staked much more and was happy with smaller rises but bigger overall cash profits.)

Prior to that I liked FTSE 100 & 250 stocks and just bought prior to trading updates. The system there that worked best for me was to bet half what I had available So say £10k, put £5k down prior to results and if the results were good I could add the other 5k and get a bit more with continued momentum, or if the results were good but the market (and this happens a lot in my experience) marked the shares down on the results then I had 5k to buy in at a lower amount and then it was easier and quicker to get into an overall profit, or if I had got it wrong then I only had the percentage loss on the £5k and not the full £10k. As I say that worked really well.

And then came AVACTA and I have had to ride that one in a very "unlike me" way. but hopefully I might get away with it. but again its an example where even when you think you have it all researched and done timescales get missed, doubts creep in and you are left in no mans land.

See, its just a crap shoot (well more accurately, its a crap shoot for me!)

Ah D, you see this is where it gets interesting (for me). You cycle analogy is not a bad on and if you do your company research etc, you are minimising risk. But here's the rub: When you go cycling all kitted out and as safe as you can reasonably be, you don't then, on an icy winter road ,speed up down a hill with a bend at the bottom.
So it is with share dealing. We have just been shown 2 examples where £500 seems too low a stake to be worthwhile and both parties want to "bet" more...

Also company research does not tell you all that much. Gen's view of EVE is a good example and I am not disagreeing with his opinion, but he is guessing and making assumptions, that if correct would likely see an increase in the SP. He may be wrong.

Back to your analogy, its like going pell mell down that hill and assuming that all the ice has melted although its still very cold.

So to minimise the risk (and therefore reduce the "gamble" element. You would bet only what you can comfortably afford to lose and you would have a diversified portfolio. And even then it can all go tits up. (A certain Mr Woodford springs to mind....)

So no, its not pure chance in the black/red roulette sense, but there are so many unknown unknowns that there is a lot more luck to it then we allow ourselves to believe. (Well, that's just my opinion.)

yes a balanced portfolio is indeed a very good thing to minimise risk.

Fair point about some of the "other" items being harder to get now with the demise of Debs and other dept stores.

Gen, my motivation is to get my view of EVE trashed by others highlighting either things I have not thought of or am giving the wrong weight to.

(I have no idea about Purple. com particularly but isn't market cap £284m? and didn't they have a USP in their market?)

Just so its clear. I don't "care" about EVE. I only care about the SP. And I think there could be good gains from here. Ok, so no issue. I guess the only difference I have is the scale of returns and the time period of those gains.

The bit I don't get is "Eve, the home of sleep". What are we talking about? night clothes, oils, candles, books ,hot water bottles. bedding, audio sleep books hypno-therapy, bed linen. mattresses and bedroom furniture?

All of those things are available everywhere else and its already very competitive.

They could diversify further but to what? to where,? its still going to be a very crowded market in home ware.

My 2 cents is that the best that can happen is that EVE become sustainable in their own right and then get bought out.

Long term I don't see any USP that is going to drive EVE substantially forward in their market. Happy to be corrected.

Plus if CC is as good as she seems , she will be going to a bigger company if she gets EVE sorted out I would have thought, sooner rather than later.

I think Gen, you are putting too much emphasis on the £9m. By your rationale you are already assuming that the last 6 weeks have produced £1 m profit which assumes in 6 weeks that EVE has gone from at best breakeven to very profitable.

CC said in Jan that the £8m would be used to fund French expansion. This implies its not likely to come out of (assumed) profit this year.

So it sounds to me as if the forecast will be of higher sales growth but that expanded sales will, at least in part, have to be funded by current cash pile.

How the city reacts will depend on their view of their trust in CC. I think given her brief track record she will get the benefit of the doubt. But at the same time I can see the SP relatively treading water again while confirmation of the strategy pays off.

I think I said a while ago, this may be the last "one step back before taking two steps forward" before the company really starts to motor ahead. Its a tricky call.

Ah CO, if only it was that simple...… All SP's have to retreat at some stage before they can go up further.

The good news is there is still a reasonable amount of headroom for further increases before a retrace.

(Of course that does not mean the retrace could happen from here tomorrow! but I think it more likely there is more rises to come first.)

The other thing you might notice about PP is that she posts lots under one title (rather than a longer single post), so as to move down the list any post that might want to discuss the cons, as well as the pros, of the stock.

Still, its all about the ethics and the morals...…...

What are the fundamentals? what do the fundamentals have to reduce to, for PP to sell? Not hindsight, not gloom or doom. Just, given the never ending completely UNBALNCED ramped view she spews out ad infinitum, what would be PP's indicators of the business be a red flag to her?
Given that she spouts ethics and morals, clearly the allegations of slavery did not seem to bother her, so again I ask: What would it take for PP to review her position of BH?

the SP having broken the intra-day high of 214.5 has now come back to test it as a support. I expect it more likely than not that the SP will close above where we are now.

Sorry, llinky, I'm one of those mugs thats more interested in the SP than I am the actual company. (A fact you will realise the day you come to sell)
