Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to all.
Apologies to everyone here for this but I wanted to very quickly talk to Dee G.
The better the gear the easier it will be to play and the sound will be better too which may keep the level of interest up so as to increase the chances to make it a life long thing.
(Also should no 1 daughter not stick with it then it will have better resale value then very cheap stuff.)
I love Fenders (esp the Strat) for the sound and iconic looks so the Squeir might be a good choice pricewise. Of course if you really loved her you would get her a proper fender Strat and be done with it ! ha ha) and although i am not a fan per se, Yamaha are very, very good (yamaha pacifica 112v would be a great choice I think for her.)
I don't know here age but the weight of guitars vary. Gibsons for instance are much heavier than the fender range.
Again with quality and value in mind for the Amp, Peavy is a solid respected brand (stay away from Marshall until she has her own band!)
Peavey Vypyr X1 Modelling Amp might look a bit complicated but you just find the sound you want and stick with it. As she gets better then she will naturally want different tones and styles and that amp has them all.
So for less than £500 with probably £200-300 resale then that looks to me a pretty good place to start. And I think if it sticks, then those choices will be good enough for years to come without her feeling the need to upgrade to better gear.
Lastly i think, It is very important she chooses a guitar in the colour she wants as its just like a car. They all do the same thing but, to keep her playing she has got to like/love the look of it so imagination takes over while she's practising. (She can pretend she is her favourite guitarist when she is plonking away!)
(And if you throw in £5k into g4m there is a pretty good chance you will make 15-20% in the coming month(s) when the christmas period is delivered on the 20th and the profit will pay for the outlay so ultimately it will be for free. :0) Obviously thats just my opinion and not financial advice!
Anyway, hope you and the family a lovely break. Fondest regards,
Thanks again everyone here.
