No one in a position of commonsense including none of the potential manufacturers, and proposing that the results of theses these kits as they stand, used at home, should be formally dialed into a track and trace reporting process. these home kits are just that, so that people at home can test themselves. The only place that it's been suggested that the results be entered into a covid app and used to formally advise government or health bodies via the app, are a couple of posters here. I have pointed out the stupidity of such an idea, and EXACTLY why it is not being suggested, and also suggested a system that might allow such tests to be part of a closed loop.

There is a massive market for these home tests, absolutely massive, just lets not allow a couple of wanderlust ideas to get credence that they might be used as currently designed, to fulfil a role that they can not possibly fulfil.

Impractical/Unworkable...prick a finger, wait for result, power up the pregancy stick (from your phone), open app.
or
prick a finger, wait for result, open app, take picture, at the far end trust in the user's honesty, and that the picture isn't out of focus, too dark, missed a bit.....which one was more practical again ?

I think stick a $1 bluetooth transceiver and a usb cord to provide power onto the pregnancy stick, and you have an entirely closed system. Other than deliberately using someones else blood for the test, it's quite robust.

If you need to go to the chemist to validate the test, the test may as well be done at the chemist.

my understanding of the pregnancy test is that it's lines or no lines. Nothing easier that to fake a line or not etc.

And if you are positive, and want to go on that £2K holiday, a quick bit of fakery using your phone app and you are on your way, covid-19 and all.
No right minded health body will implement that. One news article and the entire process is undermind.

No idea what's going on, i guess it just floats some peoples boat and they see themselves as 'funny'. Amazingly, it's subscribers, which mean they are paying a monthly fee to advfn. Subscribers can not be banned by thread owners, and unless something has changed recently, advfn do not generally get involved in nuisance behaviour.

photos can be fake, no health body is going to rely on the honesty and competency of the general public, it needs to be a closed system that has no human input of the data.

I don’t think any gov body is going to allow people to type results into an app.....what’s to stop you seeing you were negative when you weren’t. Now if the device had Bluetooth combs and could securely communicate with a users phone......

Problem of Heathrow "pushing it" is that the gov might well have been using Heathrow as a test bed too.

I am a little worried that ODX is being caught up in the whole testing thing, but many don't realise that ODX big play is antibody not antigen testing. Yes they have the rights to manufacture the mologic test, but that's not the same thing.
