"The vaccine provoked a T cell response within 14 days of vaccination (white blood cells that can attack cells infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus), and an antibody response within 28 days (antibodies are able to neutralise the virus so that it cannot infect cells when initially contracted)."

My (layman) understanding is that the Vaccine will initiate both an antibody and T-cell response, like happens in the body when you get infected.

The jury is out as to exactly what weight each of these has in relation to fighting Covid.

The nature of T-cell is that they cannot be easily tested for. The can test for antibodies (obviously), and it's been shown that some dissipate over time.

Seems pretty clear that inthe last couple of days, a decision has been made by all the main players (and hardly in isolation) to ramp up news flow.

So *something* is coming.

A bit more poking shows a readme file that was added just yesterday that states

This application is for the end user who wishes to take an at home antibody test. As it stands, the application contains:
A login to idenfity the user (currently placeholder)
- Some instructions to guide the user through the process
- A timer to ensure the user waits for the necessary time for the test kit to work
- A camera page to capture the image of the completed test kit
- A results screen for displaying the results to the user

Been looking at the github for the track and trace app, the gov made the app source public to ease privacy concerns.

There is another NHS on there antibody testing app.https://github.com/nhsx/antibody-web

It is being worked on, but some of the images that make up the app are 2 months old. The one that was referred to elsewhere here via a tweet, apparently showing a phone taking a picture of the test with QR code, is one of those. It would suggest they are working on such a system.

But it shows that you need to see these things in context. There is another picture called "kit" which shows the entire antibody kit laid out, but its a kit from a US firm called biomedomics.

I'm guessing these are all placeholders for the eventual images.

Government buying is important. It makes marketing abroad far easy. The contrary is if the government did not buy a product of which it had instigated the design, it would not look good.

But unless that BBI leak was full of doggy-doo we know that orders are in the bag.

I don't know better, I do know that the government can't be seen to send kits to homes that do not have approval from it's own body that is set up to do approval ! It doesn't take inside knowledge to recognise the absolute PR nightmare that could result in.

I still think it's an entirely point as we've been told MHRA is simply a document review (i.e. tickbox) exercise.

You seriously think that the government is going to order products for home use that it's own regulatory body has not passed for home use ? Whatever the company said, it's the gov that makes these decisions. "Gov sends tests to household that are not approved by it's own regulatory agency", would make a lovely Daily Mail headline. Anyhow, assuming info on this board is right and MHRA approval is a paper pushing exercise, I can't see a scenario whereby approval would not be granted.

With respect, I don't think many really do know it. The narrative from government and others is that a vaccine makes this all "go away". A vaccine is expected early next year. Allowing some time for deployment, the picture being painted is that this time next year, this would be well under control.

The tendering of a delivery contract for 2 years for at-home testing, is not consistent with the above narrative., showing that this issue, and therefore the need for volume home testing, is extending far beyond the current public narrative. It is indicative that there is a vast cumulative volume of self-administered covid-19 tests required for the forseeable future. This gives visibility that ODX has a massive addressable market.

Confirmed orders are of course much better. But to know that there is market out there for several years for which ODX is in a prime position to address, is relevant.

I would not as far as saying it is totally irrelevant. It shows the government tendering for a 200K a day process to deliver covid related testing to homes for home testing. This is exactly the market that some of ODXs tests are aimed at. ODX is part of the Government RTC.

So it is indicative of the governments thinking regarding home testing, and in a realm that ODX operates.

AS per my post on the other thread 200K a day for 2 years is 146M kits. @ a contract cost of £384M to £785M, that means they are prepared to pay £2.50-£5.35 just for the delivery aspect of each test.

If you can buy at 53p, then buy a shed load. If you can't then it really isn't 53p to buy.

Couple of points
1) Can't see the government NOT placing substantial orders from companies that are part of the RTC group. That would be a bad precedent to set.
2) The posted and then withdrawn announcement by Ciga about the 1M order, may have been mistakenly posted, but it did not come out of thin air

Using a closed system ? Currently it you use one of the existing home kits (that have to be sent off), if you are positively, you are given a unqiue code that you type into the app. The app does not allow a positive case to be reported without a unique code. This dials out any possible user fraud. The follow on for that would be you get a code for either positive or negative, and then you can show your app where need to show that you are -ve.

I can't see how they can allow entirely home administered kits to be manually entered into the passport system, unless the system is closed.
