RE: Exclusive Coronavirus: People will not be able to use home testing kits, leading GP warns A doctor s2 May 2020 22:56
Phoenix,
You obviously know your stuff coz no one else, or few here has mentioned the aerosol effect. Take comfort that some of us use our research skills to alert authorities or put forward ideas to help. I (and it’s not high horse you can check my posts) wrote to my MP back in the January and listed some significant concerns about supply side, aerosol effect was one of them. I listed about 20 quick wins from a positive helpful perspective as simple as increasing contact less to £100 to having replenished hand sanitisers publicly available in libraries, on underground, drs surgeries, hand washing vids in school assemblies etc...
I was called a pariah at the local golf club when I tried to explain where this was going but hey. It wasn’t that I was clever. I did extensive contingency planning in a previous life and one of the companies that I now advise had a mandarin translator in Wuhan. We were on a video call. He and his family were under lock down and I thought laterally. What if they built a 1000 bed hospital in Hyde park, what if they closed down Manchester.... etc . Anyways as you know it all played out. My MP had fobbed me off. I understand why.
But do you know amongst all this the ones that pss me off most are PHE higher management, complete hubris, absolutely controlling, not advising, just a few leadership individuals thinking they and there’s is better than anyone else’s as opposed to using the private sector and steering them. I have experience of this. But it doesn’t matter look at Germany similar number of cases 15k odd less deaths. Ok damn stats! Well look at Lithuania much less deaths per capita, reminds me of football!
You see as far as I am concerned PHE should have been driving this gleaning best practice from the likes of South Korea, demanding of the private sector resources and guiding govt. instead imo they the experts sat back afraid of what they thought was relinquishing control. Holding on to testing instead of outsourcing and auditing and demanding compliance, they just thought no one else could help. Like PPE. Only there’s is best!. I mean if they just posted on the Internet the materials dimensions and templates people in the uk would help. I know this because my niece asked me for head bands and our church and friends of have delivered thousands and said what next! Imo and it’s all imo, many folk need to think outside the box. It’s not a criticism so much as embracing learning and it’s still not too late. Atb
