I am thinking that the civil service planned the waspi move all along. I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories but having seen the Domonic Cummings interview where he describes the prescripted cabinet meetings it was just a case of 'wait until labour get in and then we will do the following; stop universal winter fuel allowances and finish off the idea of waspi payments. Clearly when they were in opposition the likes of raynor, Starmer and reeves all thought they would be paying out the waspi money but since arriving in number 10 the civil service have told them how it will be.

Why does nobody in msm say 'what about housing costs'? That allow inflations to be under reported by about 1% and it means all benefits reduce in value in real terms by 1% per annum, saving enough to pay for their stupid policies.

Is really 3.6% ,the RPI figure that includes housing costs. the government prefers cpi because it is lower and presumably assumes we are all living on the streets without the need for housing!
