I went into a local branch just before christmas and it was busy. However the area where the clothes were on sale looked dark and gloomy to me. I also went into Superdry which was empty , although the store was bright and colourful. I clearly know nothing about retail or Fashion - which is probably a good thing because I think the interior of JD stores need some sort of makeover!

Farnkly a change in direction on key issues is required and reform are the only party offering that - will they get elected and will it work - who knows?

I think that to call them greedy malcontents is a bit harsh. Without a workforce BT would cease to exist and in the end it is the woeful management who are the greedy and incompetent ones who have positioned the company where it is today. As a LTH [ since privatisation in 1984] I have watched in despair as they have misdirected funds and overpaid themselves - if only the CWU had been running the company - they could not have done a worse job imv.

Johnjo, if you read the commentary around this time last year you will see that the company over estimated the number of warm jackets they would sell and ended up discounting them. Just read the 4 or 5 rns statements and you will get a feel for it. The out of the ordinary aspect last uyear was a very warm autumn/ early winter.

Imv the risk the company is facing is slowing UK sales . The upside comes from growth in other geographies and a recovery in Nike sales becasue they have announced greater support for wholesale [ ie us] and a refreshed strategy.

Just remember the company is on the cusp of £1bn profit and ahs a single digit p/e. Not much down side there imv.

Rider, the risks here is that the claims fail and the company reverts to its relatively small projects for income. Having said that the Italian business looks good and safe to me but i am no expert so dyor. I think the sp is about right even if the legal matters totally fail - so down side limited.

Deresh, I have bought these at all prices from 3.5p on flotation to about £1.60 last year - so don't fret all will be good soon.

Johnjo, don't forget UK is only 30% of the JD business and the USA is entering a Trump boom. UK comparables last year were hit by warm weather and this year it has been more seasonal.

Gilt yields kep rising, the 2 year is 0.25% higher than it was a year ago and the 5 and 10 year a whole 1% higher. Those figures have 3 big impacts;

1. Cost of servicing government debt rises leaving less for spending on services [ or wasting overseas]

2. Costs of fixed term mortgages rises , significantly now, as they are linked to these rates

3. Share prices fall as dividend seekers demand a higher rate from companies as a prmium over gilts.

This really is looking quite bleak now especially as the tax rises are yet to kick in.

Just another thought, given Mandy was a friend of Epstein and spent time on his infamous island , does he have evidence of other influential people who partied there and thinks he can use that? Unlikely i guess but he is loathsome and I would put nothing past him.

John, this is already bargain basement price imv- the recent fall in gbp vs usd will benefit earings and the trump boom next year likewise.
