The exchange rate moves just now are helping our costs move down as the AUD weakens and the Gold price is helping our income move up. Both have moved significantly in our favour this year - not sure how much benefit we are getting relative to when the deal was done but it is great news that a bright person may be able to quantify!

Maddog, Barc have a large US operation and the view of investors is that Trump will bring about a boom for companies operating there in general and banks in particular. Lloy are focussed on the UK where investors believe our labour government will cause companies lots of problems reducing profits. Layer onto that the costs from the car finance debacle and that explains the discrepancy imv. That frustration with the government here has mainfested itself as people complaining about their wider incompetence and anti british behaviour imv.

Results were mixed but the move to a primary listing in usa should lift the sp as will the buy back announcement and cash flow. No idea what the SP will therefore do on balance , hoping for a lift - we shall see.

BTW this company has done 100x over last 30 years so it clearly did'nt fit the FTSE !!

Bottom line here is that everyone who bought a car knew its price and how much they would be paying every month at the time of purchase , fair enough - no dear old nanny state insists on treating all citizens like morons and business owners have to pay the price. What a hopeless state we are now in.

I can't work out who the baddies are in syria - don't like any of them - just hope the refugees can now go home and we will not need to grant political asylum to any more. My guess is the asylum seekers will change their stories to suit the new circumstances however!

Looking at the rns in detail it has occured to me that the best grades are nearest the surface which obviously helps with economics and also the other results which will be released in the next few days will likely show more of the same giving the sp another boost. We shall see.

This is better than GGP at this stage as it is from the surface and grades are higher - might end up with GGP mcap but there is an awful long way to go!

Stp, the demographic who are complaining the most on here are likely to be the older demographic as they remember how things used to be. However the demographic that are suffering the most right now are the under 30s who cant buy houses or afford rents and that suffering will increae as the years go by and we get poorer. Most of the over 55s have houses and assets that they built up in their younger days and that wealth will carry them through. I am one of those but I am angry that the legacy my generation is leaving its children is just awful by almost every metric and getting worse.

The most disturbing revelation about her is that she used to skive off from the bank to attend to council business to the extent that the bank investigated her. Where is her honesty and integrity? Absent is the answer hence her doctored cv. I am just waiting for a retired person from the bank of england to explain what she actually did there as an economist. Was it home economics , i.e cookery?

Roger, wrt strategic priorities, it is a nonsense to have 4 unrelated businesses within the group and therefore I think something will be sold to free up cash to allow for the cost s of expanding defence without taking on debt.

AS for the land based gun sales - these things take time and clearly the Ukrainian experience will have a bearing on future sales. The company seems hugely confident - we shall see.
