Goge, 80% of takeovers seem to be scuppered by selfish management who promise shareholders great things from their strategy and then fail to deliver anything beyond awarding themselves a bonus - there ought to be some sort of regulation that recovers their pay should they turn down an offer on false promises.

I am wondering if Trump's announcement of an on line University for all americans will result in good business for ourselves - it is the only reason I can think of for the sustained increase in sp , when many great companies are struggling.

Forthemogg, Have you tried IGTV on you tube? They broadcast daily from 0730 to 10 am and have some really good insights into all markets , especially UK shares imv. I watch everyday and there is a 'chat' facility.

I am not a shareholder here but to me the results are not bad and certainly don't warrant the price drop today. I am a holder of other retailers, e.g JD Sports and they have been hammered by the market recently , simply because investors don't like british companies any more it seems. I think investor dollars are being placed in the USA just now in the belief that it is worth paying a premium of around 2x for the upside of a trump administration , unfortunately. Are they right? Time will tell.

So we have great numbers , peace between Hezbolla and israel, trump threatening peace in Ukraine , a falling oil price , expanding profitable company with great guidance for 2025 and the sp does almost nothing. ........

Can we blame Labour for that? I don't think so but .....

Godfearer- give the guys a chance- everyone needs to eat during the day and frankly discussions about work and indeed other matters are all part of the work day. If you were unhappy IMV you could have asked to speak with the branch manager who no doubt would have engaged in converstaion. Almost 2.6m now. Not surprising considering they have hit the Oil and Gas industry, retailing, farmers , pensioners and hospitality hard in just 4 months. Alessandro - having listened to the cfo on the call last week I think he is first class. All I can think of is the 'surprise' profit warning a lttle while back which looked poor compared with next which is always upgrading as the year progresses albeit from a very low expectation!

Minecheck, I think it will change under Trump because as a real estate developer he will see the opportunity that exists for american construction companies once thw war stops and rebuilding begins. The arms suppliers have had a good run!

STP, preservation of wealth is important but the bigger question is how to preserve what is good in this country and on that score the last decade or so has seen the most rapid decline since the 1960s imv. Whilst much of our collective wealth has been squandered by the state and siphoned off by the giant american tech firms our very way of life has been diminished by all governments since Blair imv.
