Asimple, not sure why you think I have a problem with boat people? Where have I ever mentioned them? As it happens, my view is that the great irony of our demographics and immigration policy is that we need more fit young men like the 'illegal boat people' but less of the low skilled legal immigrants with dependents that our governments have welcomed in . I heard last night on question time that only 20% of the legal immigrants to this country actually work and that is probably on a par with people over 65!

So in summary my complaint is with all governments since 1997 who have got us into this muddle and continue to waste our money and destroy our prosperity - immigration is a smaller issue than net zero imv - but that is another story.

Oh and BTW , I get very little from the nhs or other services now and previously - but that is just my good luck - I don't resent the people who need those services.

Asimple, most pensioners paid income tax in the days before Universal credit was handed out as a supplement to poor wages. The fact is you cannot ascribe which tax paid by which group goes where. Pablo, the sp is not 275p bc of the time value of money and risk of regulatory intervention. Personally I am hanging on for 275p OR a counter bid from one of the previous bidders . Not sure if they have commented but this could still have legs.
