Yesterday we imported 14% of our electricity from France who happen to still have coal fired power stations. Maybe we should have kept ours and saved the UK a fortune and reduced our carbon footprint through eliminating energy losses in the Transmission system from France!

BTW do you think about £14k per year is enough to live on, including heating - because at that level the means test determines pensioners need no heating allowance. Disgraceful for any government let alone one pretending to be supporting the working people of this country.

Gwyn, it is not impossible to connect to a 'gas line' in the UK. There are scores of Biomethane plants feeding into the grid , in addition to the conventional gas fields. the issue will be cost 6 figures for the highest pressure tiers and smaller amounts on lower pressure tiers. Of course it is also an option to generate electricity and feed that into the electricity network , if the distance to a suitable gas main makes the project too expensive. I thought EDG has plans to lay a pipe at Wressle - what happened to those?

What I am finding interesting is watching the short video made by Trump about what he is going to do in office and then reading the comments , 90+% of which say something like ' I wish that was happening in the uk'. So it seems to me that there is a groundswell of opinion along the lines that people have had enough of the PC rubbish infiltrating our scholls, public services and the media. If Trump then carries out what he says there is likely to then be an even bigger clamour for Trump type policies here - interesting times ahead.

I actually don't think this brand is of itself a great loss - but more concerning it is the reported break in at a factory that seems to have been the final straw and that is a sign of a loss of cohesion in our society. Not a big thing but a great prospect is MSI. Why? Well they are cash rich and highly profitable with a growing defence section in the business. The BOD are in their 70s having been with the company for decades and imv could sell up/ get taken over. The other parts of the business are doing well and whilst they don't communicate with the market very often, when they do it is generally to release great numbers. DYOR.

If you want something 'bigger' try JD sports , the sp is half its peak, it trades on a p/e of 5 , is expanding worlwide and will make at least £955m profit. DYOR.

I watched a Tik Tok where a young person was complaining that certain towns did not welcome brown muslim people like herself and she failed imv to see that it is the overcrowding that is causing the issue rather than her as an individual . Tensions always arise when resources are scarce and unfortunately each government since Blair has led us into this un happy state where decent people who are born here feel threatened.
