BP at 340+ is not abnormal. BP below 300 was and below 200 was crazy low.
The world is recovering from the pandemic and a long way off depending on green energy.
This is simply going back to normal service as far as I can see. SP still low but 350 to 400 range for this winter seems about right for me. All IMO of course.

SS17, we're pretty much in the same boat profit wise and I too am staying put. I think in 12 months 300+ is a reasonable possibility and I can't see too many other opportunities. Am already portfolio heavy (50%) in oil production shares so don't want to move more there. Overall my portfolio has taken a nice turn just recently so pretty comfy just hanging in there and wait out any turbulence. Months of waiting patiently is finally paying off so walking away now makes little sense with my strategy. Each to their own though. I'm sure trading is jolly profitable. I'm just rubbish at it. Atb

I do remember the gloomy days only too well. Big mistake I made was doubling up my holding at 135, a day before the ADNOC news hit. Darn!
Anyway, all good in the end as I topped up again when it went below 100.
I'm pretty sanguine about the retrace from 170 to 157 - people will have bailed expecting the delay to cause a bigger drop. I did too but was reassured by the subsequent rally. This will keep happening until shorts have bought back. Once II's start to buy (after the case is done and dusted) the real action will begin. Just hold and smile....IMO

Scrap that....I think on reflection only 3 rows of seating had any left so must be more like 75% full. My guesstimate. TBH i wish I actually counted.

Paddy, just they will have dripped shares into the market on the way down, they will gradually buy to take advantage of the profit taking dips. I agree they will be closing. Just think they will do so over a week or two to avoid having to pay more than they need to. All supposition of course. Atb

Realitbites, from what I can remember they have to declare within 72 hours.
Legally required to declare short positions and most sites will show any above 0.5%.

But only slightly. Will be interesting to know how much was recovered today. Plenty of buying to do still and why IMO, plenty of upside yet to SP before it settles. I am staying the duration. I did not suffer months of being underwater here for a few pennies in return.

JG68, Oops - someone at Whitebox will be having some sleepless nights. My heart bleeds. Caught off guard by Polar buying a chunk of shares. This will hurt and could just get worse for Whitebox. Bless.

Mountainous - my reading is they have increased from just below 8% to just over 8% - something like a 0.5% rise in holding. Yes, I would also read this as they own 8% of the share capital in total. Big holding for sure. Hope this is right and it helps.

This will make shorters very nervous indeed. IMO, expect a quick re-rate to over 100. Game on here. DYOR etc.

Agree Happy - I had 450 as my target in 3-5 years when I first (re)started BP investments (was here briefly after the GoM drop). I agree with your assessment though that my target is probably too low. Will see how it goes. I'm in no rush as the dividends are pretty good and hopefully will get better if the board lose the cap on dividends they have set rather arbitrarily (and so can be changed also on a whim). ATB

Markgo, Pig and co - fair enough. That is your strategy, enjoy your profits. Mine is different. I don't trade very often as I end up losing money - i'm too emotional and impulsive for that lark.
I'm here for 3-5 years minimum and am happy with the snail paced ride up whilst collecting decent dividends along the way - all tucked away in my ISA envelope to stop dear Rishi getting his hands on my dosh!
At snail pace, and stress free, my capital is up 40% - happy days. Patience has its virtue.

I was invested before the share issue and considered getting back in around 100. Bottled it because of cash flow issues and now regret it big style!
