Agreed on Navantia and would add in their tie up with Austal as well.

But how many others are there really.. unless you start looking at S Koreans etc. but at the end of the day gov. would also be involved. not an easy sell.

I personally do not have any concerns about predators however trying to get HARL cheap.. It is not like a chain of coffee or sports shops or Wincanton-a lorry business taken over by another similar business-so all are easy to merge by a single company)

I said before even with HARL being a relatively small company,( Forgetting about the UK Gov seeking a third major contractor, etc..)It would be a very difficult sell even to BAE They have enough on their plate atm and I cannot see one Individual UK Company looking to take over all aspects of the busines,s so it would be a carve up.. how would you even start to unravel things especially with a fpso / cruise ship or whatever else may happen to be in the docks at various locations/contracts underway/deadlines& penalties etc for non performance). Add in a desire for the company to be kept UK Defense contracts etc..

I personally cannot see this happening unless things go v. badly with UKEF Finance/Further Loan

Regarding barges, With the perceived workload now in Belfast for 2024 and then getting ready for the FSS kicking in,would it not be prudent to shift all barge production to Methil.

I don't have the information that SiD has at my disposal, but I find the timing of these two showing up on the list now that as far as I can see were not listed before? as very coincidental with the timing of the UKEF Application,to which both banks are the anchor banks. They will know what companies will pass UKEF

To access GEF, exporters should discuss their potential application with their bank or another lender. There are currently eight participating lenders:

Looking at these revisions, what strikes me is the Lloyds and Barclays addition.. Would these two not be the main lenders through UKEF..

I'm not so sure MAS Islander was ever going to have any work done in Italy. perhaps moored up at Cagliari for convenience only until Belfast was ready for it. i.m.o. Has a large ship refit ever been done in Sardinia anyway? If it had been in Genoa then you could say that there must have been issues..

Those containers there would be for office staff i.e. managers,supervisors,H&S, Forepersons,Engineers, Subbies etc... (they have windows & doors) I imagine they will put scaffolding full length of these and depending "where" these units are setup I would presume they will be linked with direct access straight up onto the ship/fpso as well. The half open portacabin is prob a meeting room for anything- site inductions, etc... All i.m.o.

LSE I just happened to be reading this article-very similar. it relates to the pacific fleet and the shortage of yards for repair facilities. I don't know what capacity is on the Atlantic coast of the US for repairs so presume no issues..

So is Terramare acting on behalf of the ship owner i.e. overseeing all aspects. still no mention of MJM or anyone else so does not look like they are involved at all.. It looks like H & W are the lead contractor. albeit it working alongside subbed in contractors appointed by Terramare possibly.

I don't see this as a small revenue job for HARL either so unless they are not able to price it properlyand doing day work rates.

I came across this article relating to paroc panels and the company that has supplied them on numerous ships has lost its cert. the Costa Atlantica under the Carnival owner - now Mas Islander,is on the list. Looks like a lot of these other ships will need these panels replaced.

With the fpso due & ongoing barges etc. HARL probably would not have the capacity to take on the full refit of this ship anyway,and they were not advertising either.. Much better to currently do all the support and play a management and supervisory role. However who is down as the main contractor for ensuring that all works are done for a critical end of May Schedule?. I cant see how HARL can be down as a subcontractor ? Its a strange set up at the minute with little info...

UK Gov cannot have shipping going around the continent of Africa ! simple as.

Insurance companies (lloyds etc) are going to ramp up rates prob on the Persian gulf now as well. so essentially shipping costs go up, Inflation stalls or will rise slightly, Interest rates will not be dropped as suggested...

Its all about those containers lol....!!
