DavidBrent, Fair play to you, i'm glad you got you're money back, nothing is guaranteed with the stock market, you have to be careful, i know i have made mistakes and no doubt will continue to make them, i expect others are the same, you just have to hope you get more right than wrong, i will go away now, sorry for boring you all

Gary, i totally agree with you, i don't mind shares that go up and down and pay a decent dividend, with no loss of capital, It's the ones that go down and don't come back up you need to worry about, i'm sure you can think of at least one ?

Good evening sidi, you don't see it used so much these days, but maybe i should have put DYOR under my last post lol

seriously though i can only go by past performance and cannot predict what will happen in the future, in the past this has dropped down low many times, but so far has always come back good, so no loss of capital, also it has been a very reliable dividend payer, even paid out full dividend during the pandemic even with a low sp and an excellent track record of increasing it;s dividend every year

like many others have stated here, i will soon be retiring very soon, and quite happy to have this income stock as part of my portfolio, and i would rather concentrate on a few of my shares that are either not doing so well or doing badly

have been enjoying the recent Santa rally though, let's hope it can continue

Sidi, not sure why you would want to sell here, why not at least wait until march, even better just hold take the dividends, and when it drops down again in the summer add more

At least that's my plan, Lloyds is my biggest holding and this my second, i plan on selling some Lloyds if they go up higher and make lgen my largest holding instead

AbjectPerformer, well i will review that situation at the time, but right now it would be good to get my investment here returned, there's one think you definitely don't want and that's to lose your capital, it makes the dividend collecting pointless

Hi Dan, I didn't think you would, but you sounded a bit wobbly when talking to Fleccy, I have to admit i have been tempted to sell, As Gary59 was saying we've had a bit of a bull run lately, my lgen/aviv/psn/mng have all been making good gains lately and even my Lloyds share are back in profit, it's a shame to see Vodafone dropping down to this level, but i'm not going to sell at these prices and take a big loss, there's a lot of extreme views on here lately from this is 100% safe and and going to return a big profit, to the other extreme that it's going Bankrupt

I'm sure your level headed enough to realise nobody knows, if we did we could get very rich, it could drop further or could start rising

Let's hope 2024 will be a better year for Vodafone

I take it that was meant as a compliment , so thank you for that, I'm in loss here, but it is what it is, as i was saying to Daniel in previous years when this has dropped down to a £1 it hit it's lowest point by xmas time, then started it's climb up to 1.40 from January, so hold on to that thought, i'm not suggesting it will get anywhere near that this time, but let's hope 2024 is a better year

Thanks Trotsky and sidi, for your views, and i guess it all depends on your circumstances and what's working best for yourself, and most all that you can accept that you sometimes have to take a loss

For myself it's trying to get the right balance between growing and protecting my sipp pension pot, especially as i'm close to full retirement, and maybe being a bit more adventurous with my stocks and shares isa

To be honest i would prefer not to have the dividend so i can get back into profit here more quickly, then i can sell it off, fairly confident this will come back to my buy in level, but if i compare this with say lgen/aviv/mng this one was obviously the weakest link and expect it will be again in the future
