Thanks for your feed back guys, it's always good to get other opinions, some mixed feelings as expected, of course nobody knows what's around the corner, especially with everything that's going on in the World right now, if it was that simple we could all be very rich, but i think most are of the opinion it's best to sit tight and hopefully we will see an increase from this current share price in the not too distant future

we had a nice little Bull run with most shares before Christmas on the talk of lower inflation and interest rates, hopefully we will get a bit more of the same

Stupmy, well it is a good dividend if you've bought in at these current prices, but remember for many longer term holders the dividend maybe around 4 % yield depending on what they price bought in

Garonne, I agree with most of what you said, but not sure changing the CEO will solve the problems, we need to see some good results from this share

This industry has required expensive infrastructure costs and also this is a very competitive market, and i expect bad management has also contributed to some of the problems

I've been invested here for over 6 years, and every year i have thought it will get better, unfortunately every year it's got worse

Obviously the whole point of risking your capital in the stock market is to try and get a better return than you would get from a bank or building society, unfortunately that's not worked out with this one

Having said all that it takes time for a new CEOs decisions to take effect, getting rid of the dead wood etc

Personally i think the current share price is very low even by Vodafone's standards, and think it would be worth holding to see if it can at least get back to a £1, but i maybe wrong as i have been in the past

what does everyone else think ?

What is your strategy with your shares, are you thinking of selling some off before exdiv and taking profits

with hindsight i could have sold a lot of my shares off that way last year and bought them all back for a lot less in the summer time, but no idea if it will work out like that this year, knowing my luck interest rates and inflation will drop and the shares will increase after i sold them

regards to vod, i added more at 86p, if i can get a bit above that i will sell off my last purchase and maybe leave the rest there to grow or rot what ever the case may be, vod is one of my smallest holdings so not that concerned about it

lloyds and lgen are my largest, another little push up to £15 and i will be in profit with psn, i only have 3 shares in profit at the moment that's lgen/aviv/mng, Lloyds has just slipped back into the red again as usual just seems to struggle to get past 50p

There's only one thing you should be influenced by on here, and that's whether the share price is going up or down, anything else is just noise, as I've heard it put before

Dan, saying that's it's disappointing to see this drop so low is not being negative,it's just the reality of how bad it has got, this share does appear to have reached it's bottom and of course i'm thinking and hoping it can improve from here, let's see what this year can bring for Vodafone

Hi Dan, i like the sound of those night classes, think i might join you, one year ago i don't think anyone could have predicted the share price would be where it is today no matter what research or charts they use, and don't think anyone can predict where it will be a year from now either, but each to his own, there are are more question than answers with this one, maybe this will happen or maybe that will happen, sell this merge with that etc,but some people like that sort of thing, so best of luck to anyone if they think they can work it all out

one thing we all have in common is we want this dam share price to rise, but personally i don't want to wait 10 or 20 years for it to happen, let's hope this year will be a bit kinder to all of us Voders

Fleccy, whether you need the money or not is not the point, i don't need it either as i have own my own home and a comfortable lifestyle, but i don't think anyone here is interested, the reason for investing in the stock market is to try and get a better return than you can get in a bank or building society, if you lose more money on your capital than you get back in dividends then it's obviously not working, just about everyone who's invested here has lost money and the longer they've been invested the more they have lost, can it get better and if so by how much, we will have to wait and see, this truly has been a dog of an investment, but like other longer term holders i'm hoping i can reduce some of my losses here, hopefully we will see some improvement this year

Fleccy, you are very funny mate, if i said to you 5 years ago the share price would be 70p or less, you would have laughed at me, The number one rule in investing has to be, to avoid losing money, at some point you will need to see a profitable return for your investment so you can enjoy it, and depending on your age and personal situation you need some sort of time limit to achieve your goals, because at some point in your life you will be wanting to take out and enjoy life while you can, hopefully this share can make some gains from it's current level in the not too distant future, but by how much i'm really not sure, there are no guarantees as everyone knows, fingers crossed though

Hi Dan, glad your still Bullish about Vodafone, just a thought about that, maybe if we stopped being Bullish when this got to 140, accepted it was a dog and unlikely to return back to £2 anytime soon, sold up and cut our losses then, we would be in a better place today, all crystal ball stuff of course, or Maybe we should have listened to Mole_man ? let's hope he starts to get it wrong some time soon

90p would be a good starting point for me, so i can offload my last 86p top up, those thinking this could be another RR is pure fantasy, but let's hope we can see this climbing those ladders this year, good idea taking advantage of those high interest rates, my wife has been getting quite a few wins on the premium bonds, not huge ones, and still asks me how are her Lloyds shares doing that i advised her to buy at 60p lol

Well i would be all for a dividend cut, if i knew for sure the sp would rise at a much faster rate but?, i wonder how many of you would be interested in investing here if no dividend, and would you buy this purely as a growth share, hmmm, could bring on a massive sell off here perhaps i'm not sure at all

Casapinos, thank you for starting this interesting topic, it's a good idea to take a look back at the previous year and take a look at what's gone good and bad, and these boards are a great place, not for financial advice, but for sharing ideas, and learning from other investors and picking up investing tips, i know i have made many mistakes and will no doubt continue to make some more

currently i have 4 dividend shares in profit mainly due to adding on the lows, they are lgen/mng/aviva/lloyds these i regard as my core holdings along with psn

i currently hold 8 tracker funds which are all in profit, and intend to make them around 70% of my portfolio, but firstly, and this is where it gets a bit trickier i need to work out what to do with my losing shares

these are dlg currently at 182.45 and i need 2.50 to break even, this went into loss due to inflation and dividend cut, then psn currently 1385.50 and need £15 to break even, hopefully they will both get there, and i have good expectations for house builders in the next year or two, finally i have Vodafone which has dropped over the last 6 years, oh dear? can it make any sort of recovery from it's current price of 68.61 to be honest i really don't know, i just hope it can

any tips on how to improve would be appreciated, and thank you all for sharing information and many tips in 2023, for what it's worth i regard lgen as one of my most reliable dividend shares, look forward to hearing what others are are planning to change in 2024 and wish you all a happy and prosperous new year
