Typical of my timing, when ever i buy something new it drops down

Well done to those who sold before exdiv you made the right call, i have dumped this share for now before it goes into a loss

Cheers Mole & Fleccy, good points from you both, i'm rubbish at picking shares to be honest or i will maybe pick the right share at the wrong time,

i'm currently around 50/50 between UK dividend shares and international funds and that seems to be working ok for me at the moment, so i just stick to the shares i'm familiar with, don't think i will ever be rich but if i can get a better return than i would get from a savings account i will be happy with that, one day maybe Vodafone will start showing a better return, but i'm not sure i would like to bet my life savings on it

Dan, if it's any consolation, i don't know of any shares that are doing well at the moment, the markets don't like uncertainty and there's plenty of that going on at the moment, it's a matter of collecting the dividends and grin and bear it for the time being, maybe a Santa rally perhaps, unless anyone here has any ideas how i can get rich very quickly, if so please tell me

Hello Gary, always good to get your opinion, This has been my second largest share for many years next to Lloyds and since selling off some of my Lloyds shares it's currently my largest share holding, i have always regarded this as a quality share for reliable income, but the share price was around £3.08 back on the 02/01/2022 and it has been on a steady decline since and taking inflation into account that's quite a drop, let's see how it's doing by next April and how it compares with some of my other shares such as aviv/mng/phnx/psn, these are difficult times at the moment with all the wars going on an uncertainty of the upcoming budget, a good time to be collecting dividends though

I'ts all about when you bought in here guys, if your buying in now you will be looking forward to any rise in the sp while collecting your dividends

I have been invested here on and off since 2015, the share price was around £3.08 back on the 02/01/2022 and has been on a steady decline ever since, so for anyone who was holding this before or on that date would have seen their capital reducing, so now it's about how it performs in the future compared to what else is out there

Stockpig, I'm more concerned about the future performance, i'm just saying this share has been under performing over the last couple of years, let's hope it can improve over the next few years

Strictly, of course i understand the past performance of both shares, but i'm talking about the present, Aviva sp has got stronger since Amanda Blanc took over and lgen sp has got weaker i'm not suggesting it's terminal, as i said if this can get back to £2.50 plus before April exdiv then all's forgiven, but the time to say i'm very happy with this share is not when the sp is decline, i'm looking at the total returns not just dividend returns, let's see where we are by next April

Roofer, I'm not sure why you are very happy with it mate, you are not getting say 8% yield if you have capital erosion, but should it get back to 2.50 plus by April exdiv then all will be forgiven, i have to say Aviva has been my best investment the last cpl of years with full dividend yield and also capital gain, lgen was over £3 a few years ago, it has to be said it's been disappointing lately

Not a good week unfortunately, but you can't blame Vodafone this time, wait until the missiles start hitting Iran probably over the weekend, Glad we are living in the west

Who knows! That's exactly the problem I'm afraid it's not possible to predict what will happen next, and sometimes doing nothing collecting dividends until the storm has gone away is the best option

Solo-Investor, yes here we go again, nothing is guaranteed in this game, in one hand we have aggressive interest cuts and then we have this sh*t show going on in the middle east, events can change everything, i'm holding longer term, only time will tell how it works out

but good luck whatever you decide to do

There is of course an alternative, that is do nothing and keep accumulating the dividends, until them idiots in the middle east have finished killing each other, the choice is yours
