my Funds, l&g international index/l&g global technology/l&g US index/l&g future world/l&g global100index/fidelity index world/ fundsmith/Rathbone global opportunity's

and my UK shares are lgen/mng/aviva/Lloyds/tailer Wimpey/persimmon/Vodafone/UK wind, I totally get your point, but as you know the funds have performed very well over the last 5 years, and I guess my concern is will they perform as well over the next 5 years, or will we see a better improvement in UK shares in the future, I wish I knew the answer to that one, so that's why i have the 50/50 split, not sure if this method will return the best results not, but will contue to make changes accordingly

Gary, i like your way of thinking, and fwiw if your choosing drawdown like i have done myself then i think it's wise to be diversified, i'm a bit older than yourself @ 68 so looking to lower my risks, for that reason i'm a 50/50 split between international funds and UK dividend shares, my 9 funds have been providing a decent growth over the last 5years, and my largest share holding is LGEN which obviously has a disappointing sp at the moment, but has been one of the most reliable dividend payers i know of, hopefully the sp will make gains over the next few years which will make it all worth while, amongst my 9 shares i have 2 dogs, so if i'm looking at total returns i would say my funds are the winners, but i like having that split between US tech funds and UK dividend shares, but i'm definitely no expert, i wish i was

PRK1, The share price may not matter for anyone wanting to add here if they believe they are buying at the bottom, but for those who have paid a lot more for this share and hoping to recover their losses, then the share price matters very much, everyone's circumstances are different, this may rise from here on but by how much nobody knows, and will it now outperform other options that are out there is the big question, you obviously believe it will, so good luck to you

Mole, not sure you should avoid this company, the last few years they have not only paid a good dividend, but also a rising capital, I wish all of my shares were the same, hope it continues the same trend over the next few years, difficult time for most UK shares at the moment though

I have to agree most UK shares are dissapointing, and I can't see that changing anytime soon, best thing I did was increasing my US investments, UK house builders in particular have taken a big hit since the budget, and they expect a housing boom ? Not going to plan is it ?
