Good morning Tambo, well this has been a bit of a funny year so far, but in a good way, like yourself I'm sitting on some uninvested cash in my HL account after selling down some funds a few months ago, still waiting for some bargains, they will come I'm sure

Can i say it's a pleasure to post on a board where everyone is happy with their investment, it's not always the case as we all know, no idea what the future share price will be, i don't think anyone does, but any capital appreciation accompanied by a great dividend and I'm a happy bunny

RR, what a great position to be in though? they could sell up now at a very big profit, i wouldn't be complaining if Vodafone did the same thing

I'm definitely not complaining, but what is going on guys, all of the high dividend insurers are flying when around this time of year they are usually dropping down, could it be investors are moving out of US tech stocks and into high yielding UK dividend shares, even the house builders are making gains

or am i totally barking up the wrong tree

Most of the ftse is booming, and as usual Vodafone is dropping, some things never change

Why sell, even if the share price should drop back you will still be collecting one of the best dividend yields, it's a hold for me anyway

Roofer, i hope this Chatgpt guy knows what he's talking about ? I've held these for so long now that i refuse to sell until it returns my money back to me, but £1 sounds good to me, hope i don't have to wait too long though

Rooster, if you will reinvest the money somewhere else, it depends on whether you feel that other place will outperform Vodafone in the coming years, also it would be an advantage to sell high and buy low elsewhere

Definitely had plenty of thoughts of top slicing, but managed to resist the temptation so far, my average is just under 3.90, not much chance of rebuying them at that price again if i was to sell now, so think i will just keep holding for the dividend, i wish all of my shares were as rewarding as this one, i do have some concerns about what will happen the dlg merger though, hoping it doesn't devalue my shares here, any thoughts on that guys?

Hi Mole, well my US tech funds performed very well over the previous 5 years outperforming my UK share, but i reduced them as they've been very poor the last few months

i have no idea how they will perform over the next 5 years

Legal & general/m&g and Aviva have been performing very well with capital appreciation as well as good dividends, so not all UK shares are a bad investment, but of course just like the US i can't predict what the future holds, we might even get a shock and see Vodafone improving

Looks like another capital erosion value trap from what I've seen from the 5 year chart
