Hello Dan, I think this has got more to give, so hoping to see it closer to the £1 mark before selling the rest, this being the stock market there's always a chance it will drop back again, but i think it will get there eventually, the buybacks seem to be having a good effect especially as a lot were bought at a very low price, i believe they maybe completed sometime next year, so happy to hold for longer , will be very tempted it it get's to a pound though

Hello DC, maybe 2.70 by next April if we are lucky, this has been lagging behind the other insurers with regards to sp growth, but over the years it's been one of the most reliable dividend payers i know of, a bit like a bank account paying a high interest with a small risk, glad to be holding this in my pension pot and looking forward to the next dividends

Warthog4, I agree with you, even with the triple lock the state pension is still low in comparison to the rest of Europe, the pension is not a benefit, hard working people have paid into that all their lives, better to look after our own who have contributed instead of wasting money on work shy benefit scroungers and illegal immigrants

Yes it is doing very well indeed guys, currently I'm 38% up on capital appreciation and a 10. something dividend yield to look forward too, an excellent share for the pension pot, hopefully this will keep rising, but always remember this is the stock market and we never know what's around the corner

Hello Soton, well i sold 20% of my shares here a little while ago and it's kept on rising since, i also recently sold some of my Aviva shares and they have kept on rising, i bought more Taylor Wimpey and persimmon shares and they have since dropped in value, so what I'm trying to say is don't take any advice from me, but I'm going to hold onto my remaining Vodafone shares as i think they have some more to give

It's been a bit of a funny year, my Insurer shares lgen/aviva/mng have been flying, I'm thinking that may be down to more moving out of US shares and investing in UK high dividend payers, but looking to the future, my funds had dropped around 30% in value at the beginning of the year but have now recovered that 30% drop and now moving up again, so which will provide the best returns over the next 5 years UK shares or US funds, so being an old git who's recently retired i will continue with a 50/50 split and hope they all keep gaining

So what are your thought's on Vodafone are you thinking of holding or selling

When investing in a share, It's not about much you can afford to buy

You should be thinking of, it's about how much you can afford to lose if things went bad

Hello Gary, well i did the same thing with phnx sold off too early, so i think i have missed the boat with that one now, the insurers mng/aviva/phnx and lgen etc. seem to be doing very well since they went exdix in march/april, but my house builders psn and tw have taken a turn for the worse, hopefully another interest drop next week may give them all a boost, as for dropping you never know what might happen come the autumn time, their maybe top up or adding opportunity's, but as long as the dividends keep flowing i will be happy

Hello Dan, I have had both a drawdown Sipp and ISA with hl since 2014, they may not be the cheapest but for myself they have a wide range of funds , as for dividends they are one of the first to pay in and you can choose what you want to do with them, i choose auto reinvest for all my dividends, but when dividends are paid in if i think the share price is too high at the time i just transfer the dividends into my capital account then it doesn't get reinvested, i will keep reinvesting my Vodafone dividends until after the buybacks have completed, and let's hope it can keep rising up to and after that

as for yourself you know how much you will be investing and what type of transactions you will be making, so it will be worth doing some comparisons

Novice, with hl if you click on cash then dividend income, you can see the dividends have been paid in, you can either leave it there to be auto reinvested or you can choose to immediately transfer it to your capital account, if it's in a sipp why would you want to withdraw it immediately anyway ?

Quite often people think it's not been paid in because the don't know where to look for it

Novice, total nonsense, HL always pay straight away, you probably just don't know where to look for it

I did have high expectations for this share, now I'm just hoping it can get back to 1.20 and get out, it's just to volatile
