Mole we are our own worst enemies in this country, whatever any Government try's to do to stop the boat people will get blocked, they need to use the military to turn the boats back as soon as they enter British waters, but i expect we will keep picking them up and taking them to a nice Hotel or something similar, even Macron has said to Kier you are encouraging them to come to the UK by treating them too well and giving them too much, otherwise they wouldn't be risking their lives leaving France which is a safe Country

I did fear this would drop down a lot after xdiv just like lgen is doing, but it seems to be holding up strong, looking forward to the dividend payment now and hopefully we will see this moving towards £3 in the future

UK V US, why not do a bit of both guys, my UK dividend shares lgen/mng/aviva/phnx/tw/ukw are providing a good dividend, and i will probably add to them should they drop around budget time, even Vodafone has a bit more to give IMO, the other 50% of my portfolio is in low cost tracker funds mainly US tech based which are providing steady growth, the funds have outperformed my UK shares over the previous 5 years, but i don't think anyone really knows which side of the pond will do best over the next 5 years

Eckie8, I'm no expert but we have all been there, buying into a new share hoping it will go up, but sometimes they go down instead, i bought some phnx on results day the same as yourself, i am now hoping they will keep rising, but i'm also mindfull that they could also drop down so will be prepared to buy more should they drop down a lot lower than my average, sometimes drip feeding is a safer option than going all in with a new share especially dividend shares which are often cyclical and tend to go up and down in a range, had you done that with lgen i think you would see if for what it is and enjoyed the generous dividend income from it, anyway best of luck

Fisherking, with HL i have all my investments set for auto reinvestment, because that way it's free of charge, however if when the time comes usually the 11th of the month i feel the share price is too high, i just transfer the dividends into my capital account instead of reinvesting, never under estimate the power of accumulation, but we all have our own methods

alas, i agree, but that can work in your favour if you understand the range it generally works in and try to add at the lower end of that range, over the past years it's been one of the most reliable dividend stocks i know of with a great track record of increasing the dividend each year

with hindsight my portfolio would be in a better place had i put all of my money into this share many years ago and kept reinvesting the dividends

don't get taken in by some of the bull**** from a few of the posters who like to brag about their successful investments, but fail to mention all the ones that have gone badly

I expect most are expecting it to drop more than the dividend myself included, but i don' mind it being down until dividends have been reinvested

just an opinion of course i could well be wrong

Dan, fair enough, this is looking more likely to reach a £1 than it's done for along time, so let's hope it can keep rising

Hello Soton, i have been watching this for a while looking for an opportunity to get back in at a reasonable price, and also with an upcoming dividend, hopefully it will keep rising now, but i'm also mindful that it could drop lower so will add again should the worse happen, another good dividend stock for the pension pot i think, so will be happy to hold long term

still holding Vodafone shares but hopefully not for much longer

Dan are you thinking of selling some of the batches you bought for less or are you just holding on hoping for a lot more

Excellent share for dividend income, but very cyclical just like lgen, would love to see it reach £3 instead though

Hello zac, thanks for the reply and since I posted that question the UK shares have taken a nose dive, and I can only see it getting worse with the autumn budget yet to be announced, I still think lgen and a few others are a very good source of income, but glad I still have 50% of my portfolio in tracker funds, hopefully the next 5 years will be as rewarding as the last

I can see a big drop here after xdiv, if lgen and the markets in general are anything to go by, good if your looking to add more at a discount price

Would be happy to add more here if we see 2.30, not saying it will, but the old saying don't try and stop a falling knife comes to mind

Hello zac, as more investor seem to have moved their money from US to UK income shares, do you still feel the likes of lgen international index etc. Will still outperform Over the next 5 years

Looks like the autumn fall has started early, may be some buying opportunity's around budget time
