Whilst we're chatting about ukraine and us.... I listened to a podcast the other day which had a rare earth minerals expert on. The expert was suggesting the $500bn rare earth metals was a massive exaggeration (quelle surprise...). He noted that 1) the deposits did not amount to anything near 500bn, 2) the deposits would be extremely expensive to extract and 3) there wasn't actually a market for that volume of rare earth metals.

My guess is the orange numpty wanted a "bigly" figure to bandy around to get his maga excited. The reality is there isn't a 500bn deposit in Ukraine. So rather unsurprisingly the orange idiot is lying again.

Getting back to Royces... Yes, Shareflyer Defence stocks should boom over the next 5 - 10 years - as such RR should get some comfort from that.

Thanks Svend et al. To put this is in context I've pasted a thread below from George Pearkes. I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to technology - I hope the thread works. At this moment in time we are led to believe we can trust the economic data coming out of the US - however trump has a habbit of tinkering with stuff to make him look better - so if the economy starts to tank and trumps tiny hands start meddling with the data we may be none the wiser until its too late..... Quite how that shooter missed and only clipped his ear will be an eternal mystery to me and a massive regret for the world at large.... Buckle up chaps and chappesses - I think we're in for a bumpy ride.

I've read a few things on bluesky recently suggesting the US (under the orange oones oh so impressive leadership) is hurtling towards a recession. Many had predicted he'd screw the economy up within 6 months however there are indicators he's going to manage to do it in under 3 months. My question is... assuming trump manages to destroy the US economy and create a recession do we (and Europe) have to follow the US?? Is it inevitable that Europe enters recession if the US does??

Trump hates Zelensky as he didn't agree to dig up non existent dirt on Biden but more importantly there's a much deeper hate / jealously as he sees how popular and respected Zelensky is. Zelensky isn't going to bow down to trump.

This could mean the US starts to step away from Ukraine. That leaves Ukraone without starlink, patriot missiles and billions in aid / weapons. This means Europe needs to step up and fill that void. Europe is going to have to start spending some very serious money on defence. The US can't be trusted as a partner anymore - or at least not for the next 4 years. This is a MASSIVE change. Whilst the US's withdrawal from NATO (which trump apparently wants to do) could take 3 or 4 years their member status will not be worth the ink on the treaty if they keep siding with Russia.

I don't think Europe (or Russia) is stupid enough to get into WW3 but without the US the Ukraine situation is going to be a very difficult situation to manage.

I'm surprised the us markets haven't reacted more to the zelensky trump argument. Pretty convinced the euro markets won't like it on Monday.

Let's put the whole "first time an American president has been invited twice" into perspective. The orange one will obviously be bragging to his deranged followers that he's "oh so loved" by the royal family. The reality is in his last presidency he was threatening a trade war so the queen invited him over to soften him up (she apparently found him rude, crude and distateful). Roll on 4 years and he's threatening tarriffs so Charlie has been forced to invite him over. He's a psychotic narcissist. The only good thing about that condition is it's quite easy to flatter a narcissist by feeding their ego - ergo first and second state visit.

So a few weeks ago I asked for guesses regarding the SP at COP on 27th..... It's quite fitting that the winner (with a guess of 736) is none other than our resident cat Nettles!!!! I'm planning on meeting the infamous cat in the next few weeks so will deliver a nice bottle of bubbly as the prize :-) Well done NTC.

Berenburg still at 240??? If you read the "reasons" behind their low valuation nearly all of them have now been disproved. They're just looking silly now...

Thanks for the tips Svend - I was in Atalaya for a bit (after you mentioned it a while back) and did OK but then re-focussed my efforts on RR... (which has done better :-)).

As far as "other shares" are concerned I got carried away with the hype and bought GST (down 40%...), Got into Immupharma for a giggle (if you believe some of the posters on the board my small investment could make me a millionaire one day :-) (currently up 10%) and put a bit into EEE (Empire metals) on the back of Cev's constant comments (currently up 35% with plenty more to come if you believe the hype).

I will say one more time.... II'm gobsmacked by today - I sent a message out to a few people yesterday giving them the heads up that this would go up today - but I had no idea it would do this well.... I'm struggling to stop smiling. Happy results day everyone :-)

Footnote - I sincerely hope that in years to come I won't look back at this and say "you idiot, you had it all, why didn't you sell" - But because of RR's dominnance and product quality... touch wood... I just don't ever see that day coming.

Correction.... maths isn't my strong point. To get to £7 it's a 10.9% increase..... surely that's a bridge too far even for the mighty RR..??

£7 is a big ask. My initial thought was it was a 30 or 40p RNS but I hope I'm being unduly pessimistic. To get to £7 it's a 7 or 8 % bump.... that'd be HUGE :-)

5 year prediction NTC?? In 5 years Royces will have smr orders coming out of its ears and will be back in the narrow body market. You've got to be looking at £18 - £20 haven't you??

Seven bankruptcies to his name. The second reason I have some hope is he is in love with the markets and prides himself on their achievements...so when his policies start to tank the economy and the markets start heading south I can see him reversing his position quickly.

I'm rather enjoying tesla demise. The swasticar image (i believe) is here to stay. I sincerely hope their sales continue to fall like a stone.

I think the markets are primed for a fall. Trump is probably going to be the one to tip them over the edge.

Most will agree NTC deserves the "moral victory" for predicting £7 when the SP was below £1 even if we don't quite make it tomorrow. Could have probably got there if it weren't for a few external factors mucking things up.
