Not totally convinced we'll get to 462 but I'd love to be proved wrong. I'm putting a few quid on a rise tomorrow via IAG with a short stop but I'm nowhere near as convinced for a rise as I was back in February on the eve of final results.... GLA.
As we all seem to be in a chatty mood and the fun police have (mostly) taken the day off.... What else have we got in our portfolio's? Why do I ask? Because this board tends to attract the sort of investors I like / trust - people who are invested in a sound company for sound reasons and for GROWTH (ie they're not in it for the Divi's (yet)). I used to have 100% RR... but that was bonkers so I trimmed my RR stake and divested in the following:
Cab Payments (saw the naked trader had invested, did a bit of research, liked what I saw and invested)
Plus 500 (kept seeing it come out in the top few when I did screens for stocks - total punt - don't even really understand what they do apart from it's financial markets....)
Atalaya (saw Svend speak highly of them, watched a video which suggested copper was only going up (apparently there's a massive lagtime involved in developing new mines so you're stuck with the miners you have....Also India's rise = more middle class = more people wanting electricity and cars = more copper needed) - bad day at the office today as its down by 6% following mediocre results yesterday....
Vistry (Svend again... Also saw a video explaining what they do... They've pretty much nailed the low cost housing market in the UK)
IAG (another aero company on the rise)
CAB and Plus500 are my "punts" - I've had mixed results in the past with AIM shares but these appear to be the real deal.
Anyway - just interested to know what you have and why you have it. We all know why we're invested in RR - Why are we invested in our other stocks?
Cheers,
Peak.
RE: "Serious this is the discussion Crazy"
Says the person who creates a thread to post a Sinatra youtube video.
There needs to be a word for people who are incapable of scrolling past when they don't like something.... Maybe interKaren??WebKaren??
I think people who invest in RR are wise. Wise people don't buy brand new flash cars that depreciate by 25% as you drive them off the forecourt. Maybe a thread devoted to What investors buy what cars should be started....
Crypto types - Lamborghini
etc, etc
I've onlly recently started following CAB and have invested a small amount. So far I've been impressed wih the SP growth. Figures look good and potential looks good. I'm trying to get up to speed with the news and wondered if there were any known timescales with regards to the US License? Are we talking months / years?? Once applied for is it guaranteed to be issued? Thanks in advance.
The latest average for people's guesses as to what the SP will be at COP on Thursday is 462. based on the SP being 437 now that's a 5.7% increase.... Not impossible - it managed 4.5% in a day recently so it's well within reach. Here's hoping for some good updates and hopefully a pleasant surprise or 2 tomorrow....
Cev, 95% of my posts are 100% RR related. I posted this because it's aero related and I'd never seen a report of people being "seriously injured" (7 are) and 1 possibly killed (who it transpires "likely" died of a heart attack) by turbulence. Obviously posting something so far removed from RR's core business was a massive mistake. You are right to call me out. I simply don't know what came over me. Posting an article about an extremely rare event within the wide body areo industry was simply ridiculous - summising that the person who died could have suffered their fate through blunt force trauma due to being thrown around the plane was veering on madness. I will retreat to a corner and admonish myself with a particularly strenuous session of self-flagellation ensuring I choose the cruellest whip to ensure maximum pain for daring to post an article so detached from RR's core business.
Reading the article would suggest passengers who weren't buckled in were thrown from their seats and hit their heads on the overhead lockers (to the point of breaking some overhead lockers) - I think blunt force trauma is also a probable cause... but as you said 1) it's irrelevant to this forum and 2) we will find out in due course.
RE "Peakdread I don’t want to point out the obvious but what has that got to do with RR ? Unfortunately Turbelece is out of Amy planes hands !"
I thought it was an interesting aero related article - and I've never heard of anyone being killed through turbulence. I agree that the angines / airframe have little to do with the end result. Simply found it interesting / shocking - that must have been some serious turbulence to kill someone.
One person has been killed and several others injured on a Singapore Airlines flight from London that was hit by severe turbulence.
The Singapore-bound Boeing 777-300ER was diverted to Bangkok and landed at 15:45 local (08:45 GMT).
Flight SQ 321 was carrying a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew, the airline said in a statement.

Not sure releasing it the night before the AGM at 11pm will make much difference. Let's hope it's as good a trading update / AGM as we all hope...Still picking myself up off the floor after yesterdays gains..... I hope we've seen the backk of 420 / 425 - the last month or so has been a reminder how "normal" stocks perform - fingers crossed for the future :-)
Not selling up ETF, just lamenting on lost opportunities as I stand loyally by RR. We've been spoilt rotten over the last 18 months or so with an SP that has risen astronomically. It's weird watching it bob between 400 and 430 when previously it would have simply burst through 430 on its way to 480..... I'm hoping we all get rewarded with a good AGM and trading update next week.....
Over the past month or so whilst RR has settled into a steady rhythm of rising and falling between 400 (ish) and 430 (ish) my eyes have started to wander.... I've committed myself to RR but it's difficult to stop your eyes wandering when the SP seems stuck in a bit of a rut....With so much potential growth its extremely difficult to sell off a chunk and invest it in one of the shares you've been watching. The thing that's stopping me at the moment is "what if the AGM is megafantastic and the share explodes... I'd kick myself". For the past few weeks it's been "what if the SP rallies in the run up to the AGM". All the while the shares I'd like to be in keep rising..... CAB Payments (thanks Naked Trader), Atalaya (thanks Svend), Plus 500 (thanks me?), Rio Tinto (some article I read).... RR owes me a decent rise come next week with the stubborn loyalty I have shown :-)......
Ar$e RE: "Peakdread I admire your optimism but share buybacks and debt will be paid before dividends"
Firstly the list wasn't in order, it was merely a selection of things that should prropel the SP forward. Secondly, I'm inclined to agree with NTC with regards to the order of things - if for no other reason than he listened to the whole of the presentation back in November and suggests Dividends had priority over share buy backs - Debt reduction will continue to happen over time. I still want to know what this crazy ass S h ! t technology is that Cev mentioned......
NotZero - Nice, I'd never heard of these either. Someone mentioned a while back that Royce's had some crazy A$$ technology which was tip top secret (CEV??).... Would be nice if they unvieled it. the SP needs a shot in the arm :-). I do know from conversations I've had with people who work at RR SMR that the Czech deal is the biggie they are working on at the moment - Not sure where the paperwork trail is but the way they spoke about it made it sound like it was a done deal and on the verge of production.....
I have a horrible feeling we have been a bit too optimistic about next weeks AGM / trading update. Is the market just expecting results to be on track (therefore these figures are already baked in?). Has Tufan got any exciting news to rally the share price? Is there a cheeky update on SMR? Any news on Divi's? Any bombshells RE narrow body? Has debt been diminished? I fear it may be a rather dull business as usual / everything's moving in the right direction type of day. I hope I'm proved wrong.....
