Whilst we're on the subject of conspiracy theories..... I heard someone tell a rather convincing story the other day that trump could be "crashing" the US economy in order to get a cheaper deal on the National Debt that is due to be re-financed in the next year or so. Sounded a tad far fetched - However we are dealing with a psychopathic narcissist. Apparently a screwed up economy affects the bonds etc which could lead to a cheaper loan deal....

An order from Tim Clark would be a massive boost. His well publicised criticism of RR engines "time on the wing" issues (which to be fair was justified) would make this an excellent order to receive. I've heard mixed messages with regards to whether the melting silica issues have been overcome - a buy from Mr Clark would suggest they have and would be a massive boost to RR's credibility.

I never thought I'd see the day where "reverse d!ck measuring" was a thing. Not content with telling everyone how many hundred thousand shares you own you're now wanting to know whether Badlands loss is comparable to the thousands you lost??? It's a slightly obsessive fascination in people's wealth.

If Badland comes back and says I lost 20K I'm presuming this isn't as "impresssive" as if he comes back and says he lost £300K.

Cev, you really need to get over yourself - you actually come out with some good stuff but underneath there's this constant need to belittle the small investors and lord how much money you have to anyone who can hear you. It's a very "new money" attitude - which I find rather vulgar.

Agreed Retirement - However, Firstly which of us truly believed we'd be knocking around £8 a few weeks ago??? and Secondly, as you state, for many it's only a paper loss - just as you didn't really have the cash from the £8.20 "in your hand" you similarly haven't "lost" anything with the drop - unless you sell. Hopefully a slow and steady recovery..... I'm sure everyone else is the same but my mood is so, so affected my RR price movements :-) - I wish I could just switch off and let it do its thing.... but I can't :-). Onwards and upwards. You never know but this time next year Rodney..... we could be millionaires :-)

I am a constituent of yours (XXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX). I was wondering whether you would be able to shed any light on the Governments timing with regards to making a decision on SMR? A decision was due to be made last year however the election put a stop to that. Since the election there have been a number of statements with regards to when a decision might be made but nothing seems particularly definitive. As I am sure you are aware SMR is vital to ensure the UK retains a certain amount of energy independence and also weans itself off fossil fuels. Living in Derby I am quite obviously keen to see Rolls Royce win a substantial part of the contract (my understanding is they are further down the line with regards to design approval than any of their competitors, obviously British and even “part owned” by the Government (with their golden share)). I can only assume their tender is competitive which is perhaps the one factual piece of information missing from the public domain.

I am concerned that continual delays to the announcement of the “winners” of the tendering process will have 2 detrimental effects. Firstly the longer the decision is delayed the more likely Tufan Erginbilgiç will be tempted to locate his SMR headquarters somewhere other than the UK (which will ultimately cost the UK in lost revenue / jobs) and secondly Mr Erginbilgiç has made it abundantly clear that if a decision is not forthcoming in a timely manner the UK faces the possibility of finding itself behind other countries who are also keen to obtain SMR’s.

Are you able to give any update on the Governments decision making process? – I have tried to piece together the various statements which have been issued by the Government but am at a loss to decipher a proposed date to conclude this round of the tendering exercise.

I did read something that suggested his fixation with the market had passed as he won't be running for a third term (hopefully.....) [yes, i know constitutionally he can't run for a third term... but he's on the record suggesting he still might give it a go]

My phone has a mind of its own..... what i was going to say was... US indices seem to be recovering out of hours. This should hopefully nudge upwards today. Fundamentals haven't changed. Surprised trump hasnt hit reverse yet... the markets are everything to him.

I'm worried about Badlands. A 5p drop causes sever consternation. Todays plummeting price could have given him

Markets like boring. They thrive on it. trump is a number of things but boring isn't one of them. 70 odd million Americans voted him in (despite his many and obvious flaws). As he guts federal spending, fires veterans, fires the team looking after the nuclear weapons, starts trade wars, deports Ukrainian refugees, abandons Aid programs and sides with Russia in the Russian led Ukraine conflict many Americans are wondering what the hell they voted in.....

The stock market is not used to having to keep up with so much going on - it doesn't like it. trump's already reversed course on tarriffs once (because it triggered a massive drop in the US indices) - I can see him doing it again. His narcissism is at pychopathic levels - he looks at the stock market as a barroometer of his success. With the stockmarket in freefall he'll try and do something to salvage it as it reflects badly on him. Due to his previous dilly dallying with tarriffs the market may think he has cried wolf too many times and not believe his intentions to end tarriffs are sincere. I guranatee he'll be desperately asking his advisors what he can do to stop the market crashing and I cann gurantee they'll be saying a good start will be reversing the tarriffs. Biden willl get blamed for handing over a weak economy in order to save some face but anyone with a few working brain cells can see what the real problem is...... trump. Here endeth the lesson.

So, expect a bumpy ride - the RR SP will inevitably get caught up in the maelstrom - tis the nature of electing an imbecile to run one of the biggest economies in the world....

Let's be honest..... how many of us thought we'd be breaching £8 a few weeks ago - We're very lucky that despite a 6% drop we're still doing much better than many dreamed we could be doing.

Not seen the "aviation fuel" mentioned anywhere Grigsi? - Whilst this is undoubtedly a major news story - and potentially a tragic one for some I seriously can't see how this would (in any way) affect the RR SP.

The burning ships in the North Sea have nothing to do with the SP fall. Look at the out of hours trading of the majorr US indices - they're getting battered. I think Mr market has turned on the orange one. I expect him to do something adequately rash today in a desperate attempt to quell the fear - He is a raging narcisissist and sees the US indices as a direct correlation with his success - he'll undoubtedly throw in a "it was Biden's fault" - "Biden set the market to crash" - however this is all his own doing - In the grand scheme of things RR's fundamentals have not changed - It's simply the market getting the jitters because an insane (dumb) idiot is in charge of the free world.

Dow, S&P and Nasdaq are taking a battering in out of hours trading. Has the orange one made even more stupid policy decisions or is this just the market reacting to what he's already done? "the markets will thrive under trump". So far unemployment increased, inflation increased, eggs (:-)) increased, trade war started, break from NATO / Europe commenced, US becoming best buddies with putin. He'll be calling Kim Jong Un his best mate next and exchanging love letters - 80 million americans voted for this idiot...... Yes, I've strayed into politics on the hallowed RR forum - but God give me strength - Can you imagine how collectively stupid you have to be as a nation to vote in a convicted felon, serial bankrupt, pathological liar with sexual assault issues as your President?? (and I've not even touched on his Narcissistic Phschopathy). He criticised US citizens who worked from home the other week as "all they do is play golf and tennis"..... RE: North Korea building a nuclear submarine (Svend). If this doesn't attract an airstrike I don't know what will. I cannot believe the US / UK / South Korea etc etc don't know exactly where this sub is being built - They'll have the co-ordiantes down to the last millimetre - The glass half empty me wonders whether the inevitable strike will be the straw that breaks the camels back and plunges the world into some ridiculous war......
