What can realistically be announced tomorrow?

Fantastic Results (almost guranteed?? - Market possibly expecting it??)

More talk of dividends? (not quite sure what more (if anything) needs to be said about Divi's...

Reduced Debt (Tufan's an accountant - pretty sure he'll be concentrating on getting rid of debt)

Buybacks?? (mentioned a few times on here but not convinced we're quite there yet)

SMR update?? (Not sure what sort of update can be given since the ball is very much in the Governments hands - maybe some hint of other European deals on the horizon?)

Narrow body? Tufan has mentioned his intention to get back into Narrow body a number of times - Is he ready to outline some potential timescales or mention a willing partner / airframe?

I'd be happy with excellent results, reduced debt and positive talk about potential SMR deals. I'd hope this could result in a 20 or 30p boost to the SP?? (3 - 4%)??

I think Starmer pledging to increase defence spending to 2.5% (which is where is should be anyway according to NATO...) could be the tip of the iceberg - I listen to a number of podcasts RE Ukraine / Russia etc etc and the consensus is Europe is going to have to spend massively over the next 10 years to deter further Russian aggression. trumps rather predictable withdrawal from Europe and siding with his mate Putin will exacerbate the need for defence spending increases. Defence companies are going to do very well over the next 5 - 10 years.

Let's not tar the current labour Govt with the wasteful Tory brush. HS2 and PPE fiasco were very much Tory innitiatives. Can anyone explain how cutting the journey time from Birmingham to London by 20 minutes justified a £70Bn investment??? Surely investing in the rail stock (wifi / new carriages etc etc) would have been a much better and cheaper alternative (or am I missing something??)

Foreign aid is a double edged sword. Yes it's cosstly helping countries in Africa etc develop and stay fed and healthy - However if you abandon foreign aid - like trump is doing - you create a vacuum which will be filled with China and Russia. Both China and Russia are desperate to increase their presence in the developing world and by cutting aid we are making their forays that much easier for them...

Just out of interest where do you see the "futures" price for Rycey? (or indeed any share...). Is there a common (accessable) site?

I see where you're coming from Cev and in many ways agree with you - the Divi they end up giving will be a pretty measeley one..... However, by introducing Divi's they will, to some extent, encourage capital growth by attractinig more institutional investors. It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. Don't pay a divi and plough the profits into debt reduction which will increase the SP or pay a divi, pay off the debt more slowly and attract more institutional investment which will increase the SP.... I think a token divi to get more hedge fund and pension money in is a wise move. Tufan has steadied the ship and reduced debt significantly - now is the time to start rewarding the shareholders.

Even when Divi's are announced with all the good news in the pipeline RR is going to be one of those sweet spot shares that offers strong SP growth AND a divi (although I beleive the divi will be somewhat disappointing....)

Svend wrote a lengthy and very well informed piece about this a few weeks ago - going through the machinations of voting it through etc, etc. If you go through his posts you'll find it soon enough.

I'm pretty sure that most of us "£7 believers" were expecting the SP to rally to a launch pad of 650 / 660 before results day to allow a 5 or 6 % bump on results day to get us over the line..... At this rate we'll get to £7 before results day :-) - Must admit I was struggling with the 5 or 6% bump - that's a big ask - even of the mighty RR.....

A good friend of mine was a massive Celtic fan. He took me to a Celtic vs Rangers game 20 odd years ago - I can honestly say the atmosphere in the stadium was the best I have ever encountered. I've followed them ever since. Come on the Bhoys :-)

I may have missed something or I may just be being thick.... but is there any tangible reason for the latest "surge"? Is it down to expected progress in Ukraine? It's nice to see large daily gains after what felt like months of malaise - although on closer inspection the SP got to 594 (ish) on Dec 04th and has dilly dallied for a mere 2 and a bit months... Anyway onwards and upwards :-)

Indeed Svend - with Boeing on its knees Airbus has a massive opportunity to gain significant market share - Just need RR to step up and supply engines for its narrow body :-)

Agree Svend - buybacks, Dividends and SMR will hekp this power on past results day. Let's not forget that long term we have narrow body re-entry. Tufan has mentioned his intentions to get back into the narrow body market on numerous occaisions - I wouldn't be surprised if this project is already well underway - despite long lead times in desiging a new engine the fact that we're probably at least 2 years into development and an announcement could be made of a "proposed" launch date a year in advance I doubt we're that far off hearing something concrete RE narrow body....

£7 looking achievable - If we can get to 650 / 660 before results day and results are incredible.....

I'm betting that "good" results will have been priced in but RR are going to announce "amazing" results. SMR will happen - it's frustrating that it's taking so long but I think I heard (on here) it should be announced in March?? I'm hopeful that some stellar results and maybe a sprinkling of supporting good news could lead to a 3 or 4 % jump on 27th.... However if it doesn't it's not exactly the end of the world... many on this board have been "in" RR since £1,£2 or £3 so a 3 or 4 % jump is not the be all and end all.

Just listened to "battleground Ukraine" - an excellent podcast if you want to keep up to date with the war in Ukraine - and they were talking about defense spending. They were suggesting spending 2.5% of GDP on defence ay just be the tip of the iceberg - I assume much of this has been priced into Defence companies but they are going to be raking it in over the next 5 - 10 years....

Interestingly one of my punts (an aim share called immupharma) came out with an rns a few weeks ago to declare they had no knowledge of why the sp had increased by 200%.... apparently the board felt compelled to state there was no news in response to the surging SP.... fingers crossed for results day :-)

I suppose it's a chicken and egg situation - Whilst I understand what you're saying it doesn't quite make sense. Half year results were due out on 03rd August but RR felt the need to tell the market they had done really well on 26th July. Financial information of this sort should not be public information - Just like the results in a few weeks time are based on internal financial info - If the results turn out to be amazing (which we all hope they are) this doesn't necessitate an RNS a week before the results are published saying the results are going to be amazing - does it?

So I suppose what I'm saying is RR felt the need to inform the market that things were going really well a week or so before the half year results came out would suggest (in my opinion) that some people (outside of the org) were privvy to internal information which necessitated in RR "levelling the playing field" by telling everyone things were going well. Am I over-thinking this? Anyhow - It's a somewhat mute point and I do understand what you're saying - I'm also not accusing anyone of doing anything untoward - on the contrary RR seemed to be acting with an abundance of caution - which is no bad thing.

I think what I'm remembering (having just refreshed my memory with a quick squiz at the RNS's) is RR announcing a trading update on 26th Juy 2023 (https://www.lse.co.uk/rns/RR./trading-update-hm140p5hp23bn3t.html) about a week before releasing half year results on 03rd August 2023. Did they release this as they were concerned the information (half year results data) had somehow got out early??

I seem to remember they came out with some (unexpected) interim results - or am I imagining things???
