Sharesaplenty you are so right, I followed the GSK AZN boards now for months and the combination Fat/ TR64 constantly spin positive and neutral news into negative.

I fail to understand with so much against these 2 shares why they hold them apart from intimidating us to sell as today to short them. For a 10K transaction taking all the fees and taxes it is hardly -400 ... out of which the div is 5% if one could get back in below .... so much energy to intimidate people to sell on neutral news ...

DMP, right, I struggled for some time with this question especially.

I belong to 2 debating societies where we expressed concerns over the "right to offend" . I was pleased to see that there is still a small majority who understand the fundamental importance of the concept in maintaining the freedom of speech. I was arguing against the motion but after I did the research I managed to convince myself otherwise. We will be in a better place if people will let themselves listen the both sides of the aisles and let themselves open to change their minds in either direction.

Toff some of your points are very insightful so I put an extra effort to research the background which formed your views.

On AZN there are
22 analysts in US: 19 Buy, 1 Outperform 4 Hold 1 Underperform
24 in UK: 9 Buy, 13 outperform 3 hold and 1 underperform

So should I understand your risk prediction is in line with the analysts prediction of 2 in 46; 4% underperform?

Spikeyj I agree with you that some of the comments are taken out of the context and I seriously question the bombardment of apocalyptic views.

I would encourage everyone here to plot AZN against FTSE 100 for the past 5 years and to compare AZN with PFT for the same period

Even people with little or no understanding of statistics would see that there is no long term down trend on the opposite AZN performs better than larger co and better than the market index.

The complaint is valid as the statement is not factual. It has to be made a clear distinction between the paper headlines made by EU politicians their medical bodies. I am bemused to see that you fall for political headlines with the intent to deflect the EU procurement failure.

I had to filter TR64 out as all its posts twist the facts and waste my time to check them, highlight biasly the negative without balancing factors and the most bizarre and questionable is trashing AZN on the GSK message board. Question yourself why TR64 go to such a length to clatter the GSK board trashing AZN with apocalyptic view. If its is so much against AZN it would be advisable to sell the stock and move on.

The flu vaccine efficacy is 40-60% which iswith the AZN published results and most importantly the international standard approval threshold for any vaccine.

I appreciate anyone who will post a legal case against AZN with pro and con's of its merits but not the apocalyptic view that AZN will go under which actually (we will see) it may not even be uphold to start.

Well ...if you do more research you may find out that this is how the short selling works, HFunds hire people to intensely and systematically bash investment boards wit bad news.

What about the announcement that AZN is effective 76% on the first shot ????? At this rate the second may not even be necessary as the flu one is 60%.

The issue may be much wider than that and less correlated to what AZN does or not. I compare with other stocks I have like BAE & LEG and the pretty much behave the same .

The SP itself won't raise on on UK EU money and lot of money is trapped in mental US valuations. MY assumption is that currently it is not sexy to invest in these UK stocks therefore the big investors overlook them? The question is where one feel more comfortable with a undervalued reasonable dividend stock or a n US high paper ovaluated one with no div at all?

Another lawyer trying to squeeze money from silly investors. AZN has no duty to release its interim trial results, exuberance and wishful thinking can not be tested in court as being fraudulent.

"best knowledge at the time" will cover this case and I am not even sure if the case will be allowed to go ahead in courts given that there can not be proven intent and AZN has already delivered on "make the best efforts" .

EU made unfounded claims which were proven and condemned by the world as unjustified; this case seems to me the same: Opportunistic spineless individuals - Maybe Giuliani is desperate for a job?

I have to admit that I can't figure out if this would be the reason of the drop today - would it? Anyone ?

"There is no pot of gold at the end of the COVID rainbow for AZN or GSK." it depends of the way one would look at. If we expand the horisont beyond EU drama, India for 10 days started to "donate" to ****stan, Butha, Sri Lanka, an incredible targeted approach towards the countries towards China had promised and not delivered.

We are in a "good will" diplomacy war which AZN won and EU lost while the rest of the far East see India as the ultimate saviour. This world wide "good will non profit" vaccine is larger than a pot of gold right now.

Toff, right, I fully agree but these are not the points I raised:
- investors deadlock, high level of cash in unproductive positions for years
- SP increase with no short position anymore will put the investors into a loos-loos situation
-when the investors (even few) need money it will be a snow ball SP collapse

Please let me know where to find evidence that short positions are still open as I found only the oposite

I did a lot of research and it seems that all the shot positions on GME are closed

I also checked the shorts lists info boards and I couldn't find any positions options either, so if from Friday SP it will still increase the retails will just put themselves in a loose-loose situation.

It will be very difficult for people who are still in as they have cash blocked $320 for each 4.5 share. Who will afford this level to cash to be trapped without dividends and in a co which in the past 4 years underdelivered. While it was amazingly fantastically well coordinated to squeeze the HF out unfortunately now people are in a deadlock which I do not know he they ell get out without some loosing money.

Pearls, it seems to be a bigger issue than that. BAE Systems, LGE have the same fate. It is the whole UK market

DrugMePlease GME - I can't see any lans/ discussions for the last 2 days. I was locked out of the Reddit account and posts blocked several times, now allowed in but I don't recognise the set up, WSB became private. Are you sure that GME will go up as there are no shorts anymore - all they have been liquidated. As I see it, if it will raise further from FR when the shorts were announced as NILL it will be retail against retail which will defeat the purpose.

About 2 years ago I calculated that S&P may be 27% overvalued and worried to invest, since then it rocketed up.... Then I looked from a different angle - lots of cash to be parked somewhere and it is rather difficult to park 1 Bn under the mattress (metaphoric statement, not mine).

Debt fueled transactions will be definitely be failing, some SP drops due to corrections because closing some short position (on friday US was as much down as FTSE)... I am not sure anymore that it will be a correction on the solid companies with robust prospects as money could not works harder anywhere else in my humble opinion.

It is disturbing how much AZN and GSK are talked down on the US outlets.

To extrapolate, I think the optimal position is not either or, but to have a healthy position in both. I spotted quite few names who do exactly that.

Indeed a strange share, however this last fall has nothing to do with BE. it is a major impact in all markets due to GameStop effect AZN, SGK, LGN all dropped ca 2% and all the UK financial institutions
