By the time this is over a lot of people will have saved a lot of money and will be prepared to pay higher prices for things like holidays. If there was a pub open near me now I would happily pay £10 a pint !

I am one of the 1.4m vulnerable and despite registering on-line I have had no support or communication whatsoever. So not sure what I should be greatful to Capita for.

Hope the horse racing does return soon, it is my main hobby. I have ended up having a gamble on here. This is based on recommendations from the TW board. Some of their recommendations have turned out to be very successful, e.g. GGP, NCYT. This one has some catching up to do.

Thanks Tom, also had a gamble with SNG, just need NCYT now for a full set.
They all have good positive momentum so I can justify it on that basis.

IC also had it as a sell on the 27th March when it was 38p, that didn't work out very well.

If you are influenced by what people say on BBs then you are probably better off sticking your money in a bank.

Despite my general aversion to AIM I have had a small fun investment with GGP, you guys seem to be having too much fun with it !
Gold does seem to be the place to be at the moment, I've made a lot of money with POG over the last year which has helped to mitigate the carnage in the rest of my portfolio.

Up 65% today ! I had taken a small short out on them on Friday, it was closed out today. Back to the drawing board with my shorting strategy.

Still I'm not alone, Investors Chronicle also had it as a sell recommendation.

Nonsense meaningless statements.

Unless you know something that the market doesn't, which I very much doubt.

SK normally talks a load of nonsense but to be fair he did call his latest trade very well.

In terms of how the board works, they can be entertaining but don't use any information on them to make investment decisions, we are all amateurs and generally not very good at investing.

I admit this is the first time I have shorted a share and I am using it as a trial, hence my very small position. You may well be right, I might be terrible at shorting and it could be a short lived dalliance !
I am basically using the opposite of my momentum strategy which has worked very well over the years for me.
In terms of the share price not falling much lower, I think there were similar views on the likes of TCG, DEB etc.

Having suffered big losses over the last couple of months I have decided to introduce a hedge in my portfolio by taking out some short positions. The majority of my positions will remain long but hopefully having some shorts will limit the damage of any stock market downturns.
M y first short will be Costain based on share price momentum along with recent profit warnings. Just dipping my toe in the water at this stage with a £30 per point spread bet.

Probably. It's half the value it was a few months ago, hopefully this is a short to medium term issue and long term earnings will recover. The market often over reacts.

There is always a risk in share ownership, that is why on average shares return more than money in the bank.

It is risky to rely on dividends.

I bought these shares partly for the dividend but with the knowledge that it could potentially be reduced or cancelled.

I have not been able to book a delivery with any retailer. My next door neighbour is having a delivery everyday from various retailers, panic buying in effect.
Also, people are booking up slots in advance and then cancelling at the last minute if they don't need them.
