Hi Nige,
I would be very nervous about having 50% of my portfolio in 1 share, I tend not to have more than 10%, mostly about 5. I then don't worry too much about big losses in any particular share, so long as I win more I lose I make a decent living.
I must admit GGP has been an excellent investment, not so sure about NCYT, down about 30% on that but only a tiny fun gamble so not an issue.
I'm still in PSN and TW and they've performed better than the overall market so I'm happy enough with that.

Good thing about a positive day is that we don't hear any nonsense from Smithy.

Agree Nige, one of the best things I've learnt over the years is not to get attached to a particular share, accept I am going to make some bad calls and cut my losses before they do too much damage.
Who knows what the market will do but on average it rises rather than falls so I tend to remain fully invested save for a couple of years of living expenses.
Agree also about Russian companies, they are high risk / high reward. I am also in FXPO which has been hit by dodgy financial shenanigans. I will sell 2/3rds of POG and retain my original investment.

I manage to make good long term profits by investing in the stock market. I have winners and losers but can't really class it as a casino, AIM perhaps but I keep well clear of that.
Capitalism may well be a bit corrupt, but you can't turn the tide.

What a vile person. Am I missing something here, is it not a fact that CPI has fallen 90% during the last 6 months, it has recovered slightly but is still down 85%. I'm not sure why I'm miles away from the truth.

185.25 on the 16th December, 19.84 on the 16th March, I make that 90%

Tom, still in NYCT, SNG and GGP, down a bit overall, just a bit of a fun bet for me while the horses aren't running.
I'm still not convinced that AIM is for me.
GGP has been the best of these, gold certainly has been the place to be for the last year, POG is my biggest investment and has more than trebled, thankfully offsetting some of the oil and leisure companies in my portfolio.

SMITHY, by being correct 55% of the time I make on average 12% return per annum. What returns do you make?

It's fallen the same % as the FTSE so not really FXPO specific.

DGM, there are over 600 FTSE companies you could invest in, surely you could find one that will perform well over the next few months. If you are so adamant that the FTSE is going to fall I suggest you use your money to take out a big short on the FTSE, leaving it all as cash is not very wise at all.

Nobody knows what the market will do. Research shows that those who try to time the market have fared worse than those who have stayed in the market. The old adage says it is time in the market that is important not timing the market.

Nige, all the employees clocked on / off so need for any manual data input.
