Maximas, thanks for the update regarding pricing. I can confirm that the work is indeed still rolling in (see previous post) so perhaps the customer is more concerned about price and less concerned about timescale?

I watched Sky News at lunchtime. They hosted a discussion between a striking post woman and the owner of a small businesses. The latter was complaining that the Royal Mail strikes were costing him money as Evri and DPD were "a couple of pounds per item" more expensive which rather begs the question as to whether RM UK would have originally been in financial difficulty if they had upped their prices back in January to screw a little more out of the customer in order to negate the £1m a day loss? The maths is probably a little simplistic but you get the drift.

Anyway, next year will be interesting. We may have started on the mail in our outbuilding that was put into storage around ten days ago and quietly forgotten about. Apparently it wouldn't be a good idea for the public to know that we are prioritising current incoming mail over the backlog? Very strange.....

We wouldn't agree terms even with 50% raise - postal worker union chief

The general secretary of the Communication Workers Union has said his members would not accept even a 50% pay rise if it included the current terms.

Speaking to Sky News, Dave Ward said the Royal Mail is trying to pursue a "race to the bottom" with parcel couriers.

The CWU and Royal Mail are engaged in a dispute that growing increasingly bitter.

Postal workers are engaging in another strike today, with several more days of action expected in the run-up to Christmas.

Mr Ward said: "If they offered 50% pay but still put the same terms and conditions in front of our members, our members wouldn't agree it.

"The simple reality is they are destroying the service."

AngerSharkz, analysis of the ID'S SP data would indicate that this stock was on a downward trajectory before uncle Vladimir decided to make his back garden bigger.
The SP on the 4th of January was 523p. The Ukrainian war started on the 24th of February and the SP was 371p, so a fall of approximately 30%. The FTSE250 was 27,896p on the 4th of January and had fallen to 20254p on the 24th of February a fall of around 28%, so roughly in line.
By the time the full year results were announced on the 19th of May the SP had dropped by a further 29% to 300p whereas the FTSE250 had only fallen 3% to 19,689p.
The Ukrainian war has been bubbling since 2014 and I totally agree with you on the increasing cost of gas but I don't think that we can heap the falling SP entirely on Putin.

Sid786, look at the pictures of the picket lines again. Legally there should be no more than six pockets on a picket line otherwise Thompson will be on the blower to plod and the CWU can legally be fined for a breach.
You also have to factor in that some smaller delivery offices don't even have enough to make up a rugby fifteen so if they are all on a minibus to London this morning then there won't be anyone on the picket line.
Having heard about union activity in Bristol, Chelmsford, the Midlands and the shores this week and how many coaches have been requested, I would anticipate at least twenty thousand postal workers to descend upon Westmonster this lunch time.

I think that if you draw a Venn diagram of shareholders and workers you will find that a small group of people affect both sides?
From the shareholders perspective, I think that you will find that the RM UK CEO is carrying out the shareholders will to specification?

That being the case, I can only conclude that any potential new entrants look at the RM pay, terms and conditions and think that they may be falling into a trap as they are too good to be true?........lol
