Apologies AngerSharkz, we are obviously at cross purposes here. The way that the question was worded led me to believe that the question related to dividend payments made between the 5rh of April 2022 and the 4th of April 2023?

AngerSharkz, I believe that your original question was "how much are the shareholders getting in this financial year"?
All I did was answer the question to which the answer was £127m in the 2022/23 financial year.

Scampthedog, I could say the same about you with your recent acquisitions. I have held off this week as I was hoping for a drop in the SP, however on Wednesday I release £25k from my NS&I income bond with a view to increasing my stake early next week.

As a shareholder, why would you care about letter delivery? All you need to know is that despite two days of strike action the SP has remained the same. Personally, I am disappointed that the SP hasn't dropped but that's just the way it goes. I can offer you a tip. Send your items special delivery and then claim the postage back when it fails the 1pm next day delivery. Over the last three weeks I have received refund cheques totalling £93.30 for twelve items that have failed, so the fifteen items that I have sent have cost £24.25 and have been fully tracked and insured, that's an average cost of £1.61 which is cheaper than the standard second class for large letters up to 500g.

Why would this cheese the shareholders off. Thompson is carrying out "the plan" in accordance to his paymasters. Even if the union had accepted the initial offer of 2% plus the removal of allowances , flexible working and reduced sick pay, Thompson would have been sent back for even more as he was required to get the strikes started.
As a shareholder, you should be thanking the BoD as the resultant drop in share price should be seen as a very good opportunity for shareholders to top up?

I believe that a 13.3p dividend was voted in by the shareholders in the summer which cost the business £127m, despite the UK operation losing £92m in the first quarter.

Henry, yes I agree.... some of our buildings are in a shocking state..... perhaps the council will declare the building as unsafe?

Once again it appears that there is confusion as to the original argument.

The argument wasn't about compulsory redundancy, it was about dismissal following industrial action.
There is a difference.

According to the Government website.....
"If you take part in industrial action that breaks the regulations and you’re dismissed, you can’t usually claim unfair dismissal if all employees taking part are dismissed as well."
I would imagine that if only 10,000 were dismissed then I would imagine that a class action would be brought.

When exactly was the cutoff point from profit to loss and when exactly did the BoD know about this?
I personally suspect that Jeavons briefed the board about this in November 2021 which would have coincided with Achim Dunnewald cancelling or refusing to order hire vehicles for Christmas? It was certainly known in January 2022 as several contracts (mainly involving building upgrades) were cancelled.

Point number four..... unlimited owner drivers could potentially be a huge saving for RM whilst substantially reducing it's carbon footprint, plus it would mean that the fleet managers, technicians and buildings could be disbanded?

The strikes are on why would we call off the strikes to put an offer to you which is totally unacceptable.

The new Royal Mail fell short in so many areas :

1. No back pay and it is still 7% on pay and 2% on a lump sum based on a successful revision.

2.,The CWU had to sign up to all the jobs losses and all the change program some of which we fundamentally disagree with. This includes no disagreement at local level. The offer of no compulsory redundancies is for 5 months.

3. The pay offer is conditional on all the changes listed.

4. Unlimited owner drivers now with a first phase up to 1000 but with no cap who would do Royal Mail larger format 3&4 parcels.

5. Annualised hour trial will include scan in scan out linked to what your paid by payroll

6. Later start time of last delivery 17:00 and closing 4 Royal a mail air hub depots.

7. SSP still on first 3 days of any second or more absence.

8. RRIS which over 30 thousand of members will be removed in three phases meaning these members will lose from £5 to £35 per week. So they will be receiving a pay cut.

9. All larger parcels to the 346 depots will be delivered later with almost immediate effect.

10. Alternative indoor preparation methods with trials which willl conclude by January 2022 which will mean potentially frameless offices and then a review of attendance patterns.

11. The use of new technology to introduce individual performance standards and the words in the draft agreement state key data points that impact business performance will be made more visible and help individuals see how their daily work underpins both unit and unit and company performance. This will provide an opportunity for self initiated improvement whilst making it easier to tailor training and guidance for those falling short of standards set.

12. Technology will be used in conduct cases.

Thanks for the heads up Charlie. I suspect that Thompson will come across as calm and collected saying that he has offered the best deal possible. Hopefully Ian king will ask him about the redundancies in the twenty nine mail centres where they are planning to remove the manual parcels operations on the early shifts after Christmas or the fifty delivery offices that are set to lose over twelve hundred full time posts?

AngerSharkz, teslo, the winter 2021 dividend paid in January 2022 could possibly be argued as justified. The subsequent disaster which was the "share buyback scheme" should have halted as the BoD would have known that the figures weren't looking too great but to compound this by offering a summer 2022 dividend costing the business a further £127m was nothing short of scandalous especially as other worldwide and national events were already known.

This could well be a turning point in favour of the BoD in my opinion.

A message to CWU members - strikes to go ahead.

We have this morning met with Royal Mail Group. CEO Simon Thompson did not attend the meeting.

We put a further offer to the company yesterday aimed at settling the dispute. Royal Mail have rejected this approach.

They have presented their proposals as a final ‘take it or leave it’ offer and the Postal Executive have just met and unanimously voted to reject their offer.

We will hold a CWU live event tonight at 7:30pm and we want the whole union online. We will set out exactly why Royal Mail’s offer will destroy your jobs, terms and conditions and the service as we know it.

This is the most serious situation that has ever faced postal workers. We are facing compulsory redundancies and thousands more job losses than what the company will admit to. It will also result in later starts, total flexibility, Royal Mail being turned into a gig economy employer and the end of the public service as we know it.

Make no mistake, this attack directly impacts every single member, workplace and function in The Royal Mail Group.

The job of all is us is to deliver the biggest ever support for strike action.
