That sums up the man perfectly. He spends more time on social media than a teenager. He is the CEO for pity's sake and he is doing the shareholders and employees a massive disservice by not putting his phone down and attending meetings face to face at every opportunity in order to get this resolved.

It may well raise a few eyebrows in the OFCOM offices but the Tory government currently have quite a few pressing issues to deal with so in my opinion this will be at the back of any governmental intray. The good news for investors is that nobody seems to care if the service goes to the wall.

Rural, it's the same in my mail centre. Our late shift had to shut one mail processing machine down entirely this evening as there were not enough trained operators to run a full complement of equipment which caused a service failure.
This was due to machine operators being on annual leave and shift managers not allowed to bring trained staff in on overtime.
It's hard to tell who is scoring more own goals these days....

JB, there has been an "up to 30 minutes" flexibility agreement (on a swings and roundabouts) basis for several years. I think it may have been incorporated into the Agenda for Growth or Pay and Major Change agreements.
It was never really utilised that well as the time off has to be paid back by the business within the same week which can be difficult to achieve.

PP, JB, also Signed For gives the customer insurance compensation up to £50 for loss or damage and is a much cheaper option.

JB, I had to contact the recipients to find out if they had arrived and when they had arrived so I have claimed because I didn't receive the service that I had paid for.
Gunning tracked items isn't rocket science so I can only assume that this was dow to untrained staff?

Last month, I sent ten 1st class signed for items out via my local Post Office Counters. Although they all arrived, only three were actually tracked through the system and were never signed for so after ten days I put in a claim to recover a total of £28.35.....nice

It's the same with our late shift at my mail centre.....2pm to 10pm with a 40 minute break at 5pm..... machine operators finish at 9:40pm (regardless of the amount of mail that has arrived to be processed)....go to the toilet, check mobile phone, change shoes, get in the queue for SISO machines then mass exodus at 22:00:0000000001.....lol

I would agree with the first part, however if the second part (business strategy) severely impacts on the workforce then as a union member, I would like my union to intervene.

Maximas, Kretinsky is indeed a wealthy man, however, the rich don't get rich by giving their money away? VESA aren't going to part with one bean more than is absolutely necessary to get what they want and they will run the UK operation on exactly the same basis. They certainly won't stand for the current bunch of managers spending money on totally unnecessary projects that's for sure.

HeresHopin, I don't hate my job. On the contrary, nothing could be further from the truth. Indeed, I could quite easily find a role similar to my current role that would pay the same if not more however having worked for The Post Office and Royal Mail since the late 1970s, I have many colleagues who are also friends that I see outside of work.
On a personal level the pay rise was not an issue for me however the terms and conditions are definitely worth arguing for.

Update from CWU live meeting

12th and 14th November strikes cancelled.

48hrs of new strikes across all functions 24th, 25th November and 30th November, 2nd December covering Black Friday and Cyber Monday postings.

Further action to be announced for Christmas Pressure.

Royal Mail’s proposals will be put to CWU members via a workplace ballot. Vote on pay deal and vote of no confidence in Simon Thompson.

CWU to arrange meeting with shareholders to tell them what’s really going on in Royal Mail. Also to lobby MPs and get early day motion in House of Commons about dispute.

Further information about this will be released in the coming days.

Probably not, however in the unlikely scenario that should happen then I'm fairly confident that the UK Government wouldn't want the hassle and may offer the whole shooting match for a reasonable price just to make it go away? Just a thought, in my opinion of course.
