Hey Berny!
Awesome to hear from you brother. You have been an inspiration to many here and I regard you as one of the few that really got us up from that pre £1 state in 2020 (remember when we used to say £1.44 was awesome?) 🤩
In a very simple response to your question; you may have noticed I am not materialistic in my approach to shares. Don't get me wrong, we all buy shares for the idea to gain from them, some do to enter an early retirement and some do for quick gain to manage their daily lives.
Me? I live a VERY mumble life that allows me do what I want to do daily... work, not work, spend time with the family, not spend time with the family 😂 so my aim has always been to simply enjoy life at what some may consider to be an early stage (I got rid of my old company in 2013 and it was the best thing I ever did). I don't have the funds you have suggested you have for your good self, but my funds are perfect for me to maintain that lifestyle until I'm six feet under, and so I continue to beat the annual rate my previous "financial advisors" could suggest for me, by a very big margin if I can say that without being obtuse.
I continue to do it as I have very few vices..... gambling went at the age of 30 when I realised it was dangerous, football I have never been interested in, so apart from F1 and share trading, I'm a very simple cat. I like to know that what I think 'could' happen in the realms of shares often does happen - I take pride in that. And I will continue to do it until I leave this planet of ours....
I'm lucky that I love what I do as a 'living', that is to draw and create graphics for clients worldwide. To see my work in Australia, America, New Zealand, Africa nations to name but a few makes every day for me a joy, so there is no retirement for me, and thus any gains from these shares will never propel me to give that up and do something else.
What else do I do? Retire from a job I love and do what?
I have a goal, as we all do, to have funds available if I ever become unable to do such work (AI being a massive force against my work at the moment) and I'm probably there already but the fun of waking up every day and doing what I love, looking at my share prices increase (or understand why they are decreasing) is my joy.
Moreover, the ability to help others is a key thing for me - not in share advice, as nobody should take what I do as advice, but using the money to do wonderful things for the community. That's my joint, my drug.
I hope that answers your question friend - walking through the fields at 7am this morning with my awesome wife and dog whilst my daughter was sleeping to then go back and enjoy a day of family is all that matters to me.
