BT has the UKs largest fibre network reaching to every exchange in the country as a core and then extending to its local area as required. Other operators have UK wide networks but only to a small number of gregraphical locations and then use in most cases BT to reach that restricted local area. Even with renting duct space from BT they do not want to spend the money expanding there networks, they are better off using BTs services for the last mile. As said by others, network ownership is king.

5G is a win win for BT. They have got there allocation of the spectrum and will get a lot of work upgrading and installing new Backhaul network for the other operators. IIt will take time to come through but bring in good revenues going forward.

The value of the company is in the services and products it provides. The electronics that provide them have very little secondhand value without a network to provide them over. So no asset stripper would sell off the network, copper & fibre. That's why the tens of thousands of Km of both in the ground could not be stripped, only what's in stock not used... So that plus no buildings, good move keeps the strippers away. Also if you had your wish, be careful what you wish for, it mat come true !!! Then no internet, no digital TV, no banking network, no Mobil networks, etc .........

Hi. With respect why not look at the web sites for BT and the CWU for news updates. They are the parties involved, the CWU will announce a ballot date and after that the result and any actions that are taken going forward based on the outcome. BT staff are the ones being represented not the ones setting dates, it will happen when it happens, no earlier !
