No. Openreach is a workforce that provides and maintains the copper and fibre network connecting to end users, it provides these services for all providers that use the network, ie Sky, Vodafone, Talk Talk and of course BT. British Telecom PLC owns this infrastructure and all the elements within it, eg poles street furniture etc.

BT has Always had, churn, nothing new since LLU happened best part of 20 years ago. The , na sayers, always forget to mention that and the fact that a large percentage of that 800k will have moved to a supplier who uses BTs network to connect to there customer. Sad really, never have a glass half full for them…

Instead of asking how many customers or supermarket visits each employee equals to you should be asking, if a company appears to only provide service to one customer per day, what is it that those individuals actually do. If you had an understanding of what is involved in providing a connection to a new customer site that currently has no service and the timescales and different skill sets required then your basic premise would change. People have in the past on this forum made comments such as, why is my neighbors BT van on his drive 4 days a week, why are there 2 people in one vehicle, why is that engineer standing at the top of an underground chamber doing nothing. That’s just the bits the public can see and until they understand the reasons behind these blanket statements, it can appear that there are to many staff many of which have nothing to do. Not the case. So perhaps you could investigate what employees contribute then you may better understand why the current ratio appears by your metrics to be poor when in fact it is not…

This article is from 2023 but is relevant because the review between BT and the BTPS is held every 3 years, the next is 2026. It states many factors that complicate any spinoff of OR until the funding program is finished, including the fact that OFCOM had to consider the BTPS when it forced BT to separate OR from BT but keep it as part of the BT group . Very unlikely OR will be separated any time soon.

This is only for BTPS and not any other scheme BT may pay into.

WOW again. Looks like you’re turning into a pensions expert, at least in respect to BTPS. Or is this simply that the funding deficit appears to you as being debt rather than an expense it is legal required to cover until break even. It is no different to lease payments paid for buildings, or ongoing expenditure for network upgrades. It’s very easy to call it debt when it suits a point of view, but avoiding mentioning the fact that there is a legal obligation to make the payments, just something that is forgotten because it suits or not honest enough to mention for balance.

I would like to personally thank Rodders for his reincarnation as Candi. Despite ALL the rubbish he has posted since he became Candi on 11 March, the SP has in those two months risen by 20p. On 11 March it was £1.52. Keep up the rambling old man, at this rate by 11 March 2026 it will be at least £2.70 and that is without the non existent bid that will not happen. The last time there was a big dispute between Prospect and BT, admittedly a few years ago, the members were so militant that they turned there mobiles off at 5pm and back on at 8am. Anybody thinking this dispute will adversely affect the SP need not worry.

This really shows how little you know about the BTPS legal situation. I have posted a couple of times in the past why it is almost impossible to do as you continue to comment in regards to the BTPS and its Crown Protection. Perhaps you could spend some time reading up on the situation from a legal position. Or if that to to difficult for you, just find my posts on the situation.

Either way perhaps it will keep you occupied and of this site for a while. Go on do something that may actually educate you in the subject.
