Faultsman.. There are elements of truth in your post, but its not as cut and dry as you think. Yes in time the copper network will go, probably nearer 2033 than 2025, it will take a long time to replace the copper local loop with fibre as you need to use the copper up to the point you convert the customer to a fibre link. Existing duct space is limited and may need additional duct to perform the conversion, you need the full network in a location before you can change it over.
Pension is not closed as such just changed to meet its members need, for the long standing staff. The schemes for newer staff are at little cost to BT, and remember BT took payment holidays not the staff in the past which has caused some to its issues.
BT would certainly keep the network especially once all fibre, why would you get rid, its a cash cow, and we all need it all the time. As for your "pirates" firstly they would need to know what to cut, major routes are very well procreated aint going to happen.
As for employés only chat why ? They are the people who can inform those of us that do not know how something is done or wish to understand how the company works, that they are, or are considering, investing in.
Yes the rain thing happens, but not to the extent you imply, and only small numbers of staff involved, remember BT has to for fill OFCOM repair targets. The work is much more robust than it was 5-10 years ago. Many of the staff that do this also do disaster recovery work around the world when nature hits back at us, restoring networks so that emergency workers can do there bit saving lives. Most volunteer to do this at home and abroad, with little or no real financial gain.
Also WHEN did we last have rain, don't think I can remember that far back... As you say enjoy the weekend.
