It doesn't matter if it is Avacta or not... don't forget processes have to developed and tested (logistics, recording of results etc). Get the process right for testing, you can swap out for another test if it proves higher quality/cost effective.

MB investing is speculation - there is a risk on everything. If you wait until confirmation you might be buying at £2.50 or more. if you think market cap is currently too high... then well sure id agree but at this cusp of product development it would not be usual. The risk / reward is very high, agreed.

MB - let's assume for a second it isn't avacta or indeed any ONE company the gov is talking about. Can you honestly say that if Avacta manufacturer 10m tests in October that every single one won't be snapped up? Equally if Mologic do the same? all will be bought I expect. I really think the market is being underestimated... and there are many bullish indicators about Avacta including the 2x manufacturers. I think the confidence Avacta holders stems from the information provided by the company with regards to the unique selling point of Affirmers. Avacta have said will be high quality and don't required the re-agents that were/are? in short supply. Please feel free to correct anything I may have misinterpreted.

Absolutely right Spike. More manufacturing partners would also imply that it is the test the gov are alluding to. I would imagine the manufacturers would also be subject to NDA. I'm certain the government will want to make the announcement to take the glory - it might be timed appropriately with an intraday or post trading RNS.

Really great post Cautious Optimist. I just wanted to go back to the webinar and I recall the exchange between David and Klaus at the time - and I think the case of specificity v sensitivity wasn't being discussed in a mass population testing scenario. It was about the requirements in a localised testing situation eg a work place or hospital admission setting where the risk of false negatives would risk the spread of the virus. I certainly at the time wasn't even contemplating mass screening - so I guess they might not have been thinking about it in that respect either. However, as you point out AS obviously is gearing this up for mass screening, which additional lab validation to sift out a few false positives as possible. But equally the importance of repeat testing (eg for those returning and in isoluation etc) would help reduce the risk of false negatives.

RD - I recall the back and forth on the timelines and he did get very fed up with some posters challenging him. You took offence at some of the same kind of retorts you dish out. He went to a lot of work to put the timelines together and I would imagine I would have been annoyed if poster who has a habit of being dominant for the sake of being dominant starting challenging. I'm not saying who is right or wrong on the points being made, but there were some big personalities getting ruffled and it would be better for the board to have more professional input rather than less. If challenges to posts were made in a polite manner (imagine you are writing them to your grandmother) then it might get back to being a productive research type BB. So can the pea****s stop spreading out their tail feathers and just get back to research????? Pretty please?

I was actually saying yesterday - can't remember which post, but I was concerned that there weren't more manufacturing partners announced. So actually I'm really pleased. Whilst the clinical validation for the prototypes (first batch from BBI) is yet to commence, I am pleased that the ducks in row for when that does complete. Certainly want the manufuring to be ready and waiting for the big GO decision.

Covid-19 what we know:
1. Estimated 5-10% of the population has contracted c-19 including the symptomless cases. That leaves a lot of the population not yet exposed.
2. We don’t know if immunity is maintained- several cases reported with a 2nd infection. That leaves this 5-10% at risk of being reinfected and spreading. I would argue that antibody tests would be useful is assessing this aspect.
3. Schools are going back. Younger people are spreading the virus more than other populations. This will likely spill over to older and more vulnerable populations. I would imagine this will start up in October.
4. The winter flu period is a long period October-April. If we can bring a product to market by Mid October we have hit the beginning of the season.

In summary for me - this RNS was about getting our ducks in a row and Alistair is very confident about the quality of our test. I look forward to BAMS results.

Hmmm - I think bringing the product to market is obviously the goal but if we skip important steps then we will not get approvals or have an inferior product. That would be riskier. In the greater scheme of things if they start validation in the next week and manufacturing begins in October already with high capacity then boom we are cooking on gas. The Autumn will only have just started and we might be in the beginnings of our 2nd wave... huge demand .i don’t think anyone else will be in that position do you? Remember the whole world needs this.

Great news - an additional manufacturing partner. This is what I was expecting next. They must have great confidence in the clinical validation.

Did he say ‘operate them’ - kind of strange wording if he was talking about Avacta tests. You wouldn’t ‘operate’ an LFT. You would say you don’t need a medical professional to collect the sample/read result. Not fully convinced- but equally I would expect a number of different types of tests to be used over the winter in different situations- so I really don’t get the Cross share competitive Posts

No RNS for any major Covid share this morning. interesting as was expecting one for ODX. I think
This shows that our conclusion that the lack of Gov comment on the article as first suggested by Affirmer was probably spot on. It is a test that is in initial stages and is more likely to be a proof of concept and also to test the logistics at LHR which must be an equally large hurdle. All investors in all of these shares need to realise there is room in the market for all kind of test providing they are good quality.

Oh yeah the deal with Daewoong! Loads of money in the bank and obviously they have seen and validated the potential of affimers. Without Covid that would have been pretty big news right!?

The additional manufacturing was on my mind too- but it could very well be NDA. If it was a screw up with test then I’m sure they are working 24-7 to rectify. I feel confident that it ‘can be done’ as per the webinar back in June and the Daewoong agreements also give a huge amount of credibility. I think the timing aspect is the problem for some investors and the fear that the first to market will be winner take all... which is just so short sighted or just shorting talk.
