More positive mining decisions27 Mar 2018 18:22
Positive end of the line for this fellow long suffering Swedish miner... Application started 2010! Norrbotten County (which borders our own, is the furthest north in Sweden, home to Beowolf Mining's Kallak deposit and even more Reindeer herders) looks like a tougher jurisdiction to our own Vasterbotten county, plus I don't think this one is classed as a mine of national importance, like ours. Feels like a lot of positive news coming out of Swedish Mining!
"Processing concession for the Viscaria K area 7
On March 26, 2018, the mayor decided to grant Avalon Minerals Viscaria AB's (Avalon) application for processing concession for the Viscaria K No. 7 area of Kiruna, Norrbotten County.
The granted concession has a validity period of 25 years from the date of the decision and entitles the holder to recovery and reconciliation of the concessionary copper.
The application, which entered the Bergstreet on 19 April 2010, originally referred to two proposed concession areas, which were subsequently split up to include five concession areas. Of these five areas, the application has been granted for Viscaria K nr 3 and K nr 4 in 2012. The application for areas K nr 5 and K nr 6 has been withdrawn by Avalon.
The Mayor granted Avalon's application for the area of Viscaria K No 7 on November 27, 2014, the decision was appealed to the government of Laevas Sami. In view of the fact that the legal situation has been clarified by the Supreme Administrative Court's judgment of 22 February 2016 in Case No 2047-14 regarding the use of land to be examined in a matter of processing concession pursuant to the Mineral Law, the Government decided on 30 June to suspend the contested decision and to leave return case to the mountaineer for new treatment.
In the new trial of Viscaria K No 7, the Berg State has requested and received additional information from Avalon. The additions concern clarification of which facilities are planned for the requested activity and the land that will be required for the facilities.
After that, the Bergsstaten has handed over the matter to the county administrative board in Norrbotten for their position on the basis of the application of the household rules in Chapters 3 and 4. Environmental Code and based on the aggregate material concerning the application for Viscaria K No 7. The County Administrative Board has made the same assessment as 2014 and approves the requested concession.
Viscaria K nr 7 is located in a detailed planning area for the industrial and mining industry. The area is designated as national interest for valuable substances and materials. The concession area does not concern any other designated national interest, but is partly encompassed by two national interests for wastewater treatment.
The Berg State's decision is appealed to the government until 3 May 2018"
