One would like to think Government Ministers with the interests of the country at heart have organised a 'coup' at this opportune moment. The Green tail has been wagging this dog of a government long enough. The silence of the BoD suggests to me they are privy to something. Maybe a chin wag with Varadkar? Can only hope they have been working behind the scenes.

Those scenes in Georgia are very reminiscent of Maidan square with hundreds, if not thousands, of agents provocateurs out on the streets! I see Georgians are very clear about their identity - they are decidedly not Russian.

That quiet maniacal fervour in Eamon Ryan's eyes reminds me of a similar phenomenon to be observed when Jehovah Witnesses deliver their message on your doorstep. What a pity Ryan was not born with the surname Looney. Would he ever have made it to the top of the Green Party?

The government took a collective decision some years ago, presumably ignoring objections from Ryan and the DECC, to allow existing licences to continue. The BoDs of BEY and LOGP
should together write to Varadkar to clarify whether decision making in this field is no longer a collective responsibility and, if so, whether that means Ryan has a valid veto. Very vocal anti-Ryan TDs in the Dail last Autumn seem to have piped down. At least I haven't heard of any recent ructions there. One anounced in the Chamber, as I recall : We'll hold you to it, Minister! - I do wish they would hold his feet to the fire a bit more often!

Does Tim think the Dutch are still miffed over MH 17 and giving tit-for-tat for Moscow's egregious disinformation on that subject? - Like they had evidence at one point that a Ukrainian jet had shot it down (!)

List the numerous, obvious and unarguable advantages to Ireland of having an indigenous supply of much greener Irish gas on one side of the page ( +revenue to the public purse!) and then what have you on the other side by way of disadvantages?
- a blank apart from the 'disaster' of Ryan losing his credibility with the Greens around the world. Ryan is more interested in the 'optics' than the realities. The reality in Europe today is that Ireland should be doing its fair share to ensure a practical and affordable transition to green energy. Mister Ryan, what will the 'optics' be like in two or three years if the lights go out as the court case proceeds with compensation coming from the public purse? Ministers of 5% parties who allow wishful thinking to cloud their judgment and influence decisions should not be or remain in power. It is time Varadkar put down a marker for democratic government and made a decision with the backing of a majoritu of his cabinet.

Is LOGP's position any stronger than Bey's and, if so, in what way? What do other BEY + LOGP holders think about their position - and the last RNS from them. I see that their supportive shareholders will be asked to pay twice the present LOGP share price to exercise warrants to raise £600000 to keep the lights on beyond May this year. I hold both, by the way.

Northatlanticholdings on BEY (qv) is probably on the right track this evening. I distinctly remember an article about a year ago in which an unnamed shareholder at a meeting, where the reporter was present, said that he would even pay the lot for the appraisal well if necessary. Well, it turned out exactly that way with just three weeks' notice for LOGP to come up with the goods, so our thanks to Goodman. Is Varadkar a man or a mouse?

The exact meaning or etymology of this word is not clear but it is very expressive and makes me laugh when I try to apply it with some imagination to you know who. Joking aside, I am surprised there has been little comment on the latest RNS here.
The BoD are really saying, I think: let no one take us for granted, whether that be Ryan or any one else. We can talk to the DECC and make our case just as well as BEY. Good for them.

Would you agree that the proposal mentioned in the May 21 RNS must have been 'material-enough' to warrant EUA leaving the FSP to concentrate on it to the exclusion of other offers? If the bidder was NN they must have been peeved four months later to learn that other (increased) expressions of interest were again in play. Then the war gave them the perfect opportunity to take their turn at playing hard ball and reduce their offer. All just speculation on my part. No one has mentioned for a long time that NN might want to offer cash + shares, in whatever proportion, with EUA having to share some of the 'risk' with NN. Any further thoughts?

FR Jack Hackett remarked some time ago that the lack of this DFS was apparently not a barrier to a sale at one stage.
I would add that NN would obviously be the least in need of this and therefore must almost certainly have been the bidder when the FSP was cancelled.
No doubt they have taken pleasure in reducing their offer as a result of the war. Now the BoD need this DFS to persuade other buyers to go beyond expressions of interest and move the price up again, if they have not already agreed on a sale price provided that the DFS is approved. Could it be that selling to a BRICS country would be less complicated for the BoD than selling to NN? I would be interested to hear the views of the above correspondent on this and the latest news from the company.

Easy. Just appoint eco-loonies like Ryan as energy ministers all round the world. Very bad for developing countries round the world for the next 30 years, very good for that warm feel-good factor that the insular Eamon craves.

I stand corrected! Quite right to pull me up on that. No material offers is different: it could mean no offers at all or offers of no (not enough) substance or maybe no offers that it is possible to follow up in a legally binding way because there are conditions that have to yet be fulfilled. Suitably vague perhaps but there is no doubt that there is real substance and mostly near the surface too in the areas where EUA has first-mover advantage.

Mjd2020, I have been thinking along those lines for some time. If there are several would-be buyers it is of course harder for NN and Potanin if they want to drive a really hard bargain. Potanin may have enough influence in the area to play the game at his pace for the moment but he also has a possible problem. If peace comes too soon or suddenly he could suddenly disappoint his share holders by having to find an extra billion or two (or three) to get his hands on the goods. Other foreign companies (Chinese , Indian or other) would also be very wary of possible shenanigans on his part. Does any one remember that in the ACF report a year ago the Nickel value was calculated at a 40% discount to the then spot price of circa $20000 per tonne? Do the calculation now and then think what the price of Nickel might be in, say, 5 years' time! Then think if it would make sense to accept less than ???P now! Our BoD are not fools like PATT , TbtT etc who have never heard of identified high-grade veins of ore and consequently think Wardell Armstrong are a bunch of 'wastrels' and charlatans when it comes to Tier 1 assets. Also remember the email Del Boy received recently. We were all meant of course to get this same 'when appropriate' message. I take non-material offers to mean 'low-ball, not fit for serious consideration, laughably insufficient' etc

I am reminded of northern firebrand Bernadette Devlin in the 70's who apparently thought it better to have your own cabbage patch than be dependent on Britain. Ryan of course has a similarly narrow ideological mindset with regard to fossil fuels. Which of these events will give the share price of BEY and LOGP the greater boost:

2 The LU is granted?
