CyanConnode may have had a request to develope a solution to tackle a specific problem/opportunity. They certainly seem to have a customer that is ready to try it out?

There are probably other companies that are already looking to develope a solution, that corrects this particular problem.

I mentioned district heating/heating meters to Simon Smith, a couple of years ago. But at the time, CyanConnode quite rightly, had their sites set on other projects.

But it would seem now that some development work has been done, over the last year or so, to develope and succesfully trial a new solution, specifically for this market.

No implication towards Kamstrup, is infered or intended. It was just a news report at the time, that prompted my attention and interest.

As you say, TillyTish, " Every little helps."

That is the second order from HM Power so far, since July 2018. The accumulative value totalling approximately £1.25 million.

The Nordic regions have been doing smart metering longer than most countries. They plan there projects and carry them out, efficiently.

Which is probably why India has gained a lot of knowledge and respect for Swedish companies, through the trade visits of various Indian officials.

I have just come across something I posted previously, concerning the UK rollout, confirming that the installation rate at the moment, is running at 7,000 SMETS2 meters per day and was at 500,000 installed by E.On, during mid-March 2019.

If the 1.8 million smart electricity meter requirement, from August 2018, I posted recently, is a different requirement to the the 5 million AMI requirement for Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, posted by Vas, dated 14 March, 2019, I have come across another requirement, also for Bihar, from February 2019, for a requirement for 1.5 crore ( 15 million power connections ) smart pre-paid electric meters.

The original time-scale for the 15 million requirement, was 3 years, but according to the February 2019 report, the Chief Minister has suggested that the state energy department should work towards a shorter time-scale and are " ... reworking on a plan to complete the task in the next two tears."

The report goes on to say:- " The proposal will soon be sent to the cabinet, for its formal approval."

I have provided all the information, previously posted, plus the additional 15 million requirement.

Is something afoot today. And I do not mean anything to do with the old fashioned 12 inches. There seems to be an unusual increase in the share price today, on low Buy accreditaion.

But I suspect, as you do, and someone else mentioned a few days ago, that some of the Sells may indeed be Buys.

Just a rough calculation on my part, but as you say, it may be exceeded. But we will have to wait and see how the next few month's progress, to see how the UK smart grid programme is unfolding.

But initially, it is positive news, from a low base.

Compared to 10th April, 2019, as you point out, it does show a significant increase. If the trend continues, that will mean about 2.4 million, per calender year.

So improvements still have to be made. But it is an improvement.

As we have come to recognize, with Iran, Bangladesh and the Ukraine, winning orders is only part of the process. In India, over recent years, CyanConnode have won and successfully installed/are installing, various contracts. Albeit, at the moment, smaller contract ammounts, volume wise, than what is associated with EESL.

The " .... continued volume roll-out in India ..... " as you put it, is built on tenders of high volume. The installation figures from the PowerLine report, from February 2019, tell a different story.

The PowerLine report - " Progress under UDAY " highlights part of the current situation.

There are two dates given in the report for completion of installation of two different usage band of consumers. December 31st, 2017, was slated for meters for consumers of more than 500 units per month. And for those using 200-500 units per month, December 31st, 2019, was/is targeted.

The graphic under " Smart meter mega tenders," gives a pictorial view, of the installation figures, as of February 5th, 2019.

So we look forward to the proposed, three year programme, to convert all meters into smart pre-paid meters, which was due to start during April 2019.

Personally, I think it will take longer than 3 years, to complete the programme. But you have to start somewhere.

The posts from 22:51 on Saturday and 08:57 on Sunday, are post concerning EESL. Which concern all participants in the Indian Smart Meter/Smart Grid programme. So I would think a valid discussion.

Sometimes threads get mixed up, from one to another. For example there were 42 posts under the " Tilliant " heading. Not all of them relating to Trilliant.

I had been looking for similar information in the usual news outlets, without success. But there is some valuable information within the document you posted, which gives us a better idea of how the overall EESL involved projects, are progressing. ( Especially the " Pie-chart.)

The figures correspond similarly with what Genus Power have reported, in connection with EESL. So one corresponds with the other.

There is also some valuable information in the last paragraph, under " Issues and challenges," about meter manufacturing capacity and smart meter manufacturing capacity. I mention this because that is the first time I have seem them separated into two distinct manufacturing bases.

As we know, EESL have the responsibility of purchasing all the meters, for the various Indian Government schemes. It is unclear, at least to me, who has the overall responsibility/control, of delivery of the meter projects. And that could be the problem.

PFC Consulting get a mention also in the report that you posted. ( Third paragraph, under " Progress under the IPDS.)

So they seem to be a powerful/influencial organisation.

I seem to remember the initials ( PFCCL ) being used in connection for some projects. Now I know who they belong too.

I personally think it will be a longer transition from mains electricity and the provision of light-bulbs, to smart meters in rural/village areas. Personally, I think it will be 10 years at least. Maybe even 15 years for " SMETS2 India style," for rural areas.

As I understand it, RF is not suitable for rural/village deployment, because of the possible long distances from one dwelling/meter to another. So possibly cellular, or even solar could be/will be deployed, depending on the location and practicalities, to provide power.

But cellular has limitations. As does everything. So to move the rural/village areas towards " smart," you will need further investment in infrastructure and time. It has started, but there is still a long way to go.

If it is sooner, then the Indian government will have done well, whoever is in power.

From the report that you have provided and the involvement of EDF and Accenture ( India,) that EESL seem to be scouting for alternative suppliers, to those which they have used, in the past.

But you did not mention anything about " Sure there may be issues, there always are ....... " in your post at 22:48, on Friday evening. You gave the impression, not for the first time, that everything was going well, with the EESL contracts, with the " ...... implementation of 15 million Smart Meter installs, making it the largest volume program in India. Scale due to increase through 2019 and beyond."

And yet it would seem as though that is not neccessarily the case.

I do not mind Genus making a profit. I do not mind any Company making a profit, but especially a company that CyanConnode are partnered with.

As you mentioned EESL, you may get a flavour of how the EESL installations programme is progressing, from the Genus Power document, published during January 2019.

Pages 8, 9 and 10 begin to tell the implementation story.

An extract from Page 8:-

" So EESL came out with the first tender very aggressively, they could finalize the tender, but till now they have received only two lakh meters, that is only from Genus, till last one-and-a-half years. Then they came out with the next tender of 5 million meters, they have given their orders, they have given their LOI's, but still the contract has not been executed. To the best of my knowledge, still the BG's have not been rolled out, so there has been a significant delay, so they are also concerned. At the same time, in a third tender, which is set for 10 million meters, they came out for the UP for a very large number, but that they reduced quantities significantly, so that is no more a great tender anymore."

Which is somewhat different from the picture you sometimes try to paint.

As we are aware, these are mainly rural, some GPRS based, some non GPRS based projects, with no RF involvement. But it would seem they are still having difficulty with the delivery, installation and general overall implementation of the electric meter projects.

There is other interesting information within the document, on competition, market share and Chinese involvement, which may interest some share-holders and potential share-holders. And maybe even some contributors to this bb.
