Due to Evraz being vertically integrated to a degree, the cost of raw materials may have been mitigated to a degree. This will give them protection regarding price cuts I think.

Obviously all this is dependant on the situation on the ground but I would have thought that the removal of sanctions, some, if not all, would likely be a condition of any agreement. Liz Truss has actually eluded to this removal of sanctions as a sweetener to russia (you may like to check up on this). I would guess that some materials/technologies would be off the table from now on for some time though.

Whilst everyone is in a different situation remember if paying a divi of 75p /share / year in an ISA, anybody with 30k shares and up could have an instant retirement pot. Personally I hope things get back to their pre war state and chug along as they were. As others here have said, it's potentially a once in a lifetime investment. Why sell a golden goose?

You're right, as they say "The best laid plans of mice and men". It seems that Poly management has been able to be very adaptable to the awkward trading conditions. If you see Saga's post I think that you will see the promise that this company holds when peace is struck. In my view, the only slight concern is that of a potential takeover of Poly at such a low price as it's quite a cash cow. I'm not sure of the managements view on this sort of thing.

I seem to remember a statement in one of the filings from the company that states that their aim is to distribute dividends at a certain percentage of profit, 50% I thought, (once ongoing factors are taken into account). If this is the case, why would present share price effect this? Please check as I may be mistaken in the percentage, which remember will be spread over a year, not a single payment.

I'm not sure if you have seen this site, somebody here posted it a while ago I think. It gives information regarding previous dividends paid. The 2022 first divi has been deleted but it does give an indication as to the level of recent past ones.

You will see that if maintained or restarted, the ratio of payment to share price is very appealing.

So what is your seat like? Is your larder empty? Maybe you would take a different, much less condescending and less self righteous view if your country had been invaded, laid waste to, your home and it's contents destroyed, your friends or family members killed, maimed or disfigured, your income lost and many other things that war does. One person can stop all of this, that person can lift any blockade that is threatening food exports. This is the same person who was so quick to hold others to ransom with regard to gas and oil supplies, it is the same person who the day before he did said that he had no intention of invading and if you may have missed it, was the same person who started all this bloodshed to support his dying ego. This person can at any time decide to allow his minions to start substantive, honest, real peace talks. Why does he not? Why do you seem to ignore that?

I would not say lack of love or that shocking really. Moved from poorer inner city to posher countryside, bit by bit. Near to the sea now, toddlers loved that. Life is a journey, people, conditions, opportunities, all change. My view is to wherever possible be flexible and go with the flow/take advantage/evolve as things around us do. Has worked for me. We are all different.

"UMMC-Invest acquired the rights to claim Petropavlovsk on a $201 million loan. On May 16, the company defaulted".
Todays market cap of POG is about £60 million (unless I am mistaken) they have a gold holding I assume, though I don't know it's value. The loan stands at about three times the present market cap. (minus gold, which could very easily be more than market cap).
Do we know what default conditions/penalties are on the loan? Are UMMC duty bound to pay over market price? Would any potential sale to open to others to bid on? (Hopefully yes but unknown).

Canada was a place I recommended my youngest son to try when he's finished his studies, seems a wonderful place.
I must say that I think more young people have got to get involved in politics, the "You Know What" a few years ago, was a big disappointment for me in the relative apathy shown by the young. As a result the old fogies won the day.

So, regarding Evraz it still seems that we are in limbo, luckily this from Reuters..

I think that it has been successive governments (though this one is possibly the worst) that have prostrated themselves to take money (some for the nation but also much for themselves and their lordy lordy chums) from the rich, be they established nationals, new nationals or foreigners. Remember these people create the laws largely to suit themselves. Local to my last home, a Canadian union bought up two very large new blocks of flats to rent out, why do these people/companies see property in the U.K. as such a good investment? Because our laws make it so. But these laws suit the likes of The Duke of Westminster et al far more than the likes of you or I. What does reese moog (he was not always wealthy) offer users of his services that Hargreaves Lansdowne does not I wonder??? So we are, to a degree at least, the minions in this world. Your friend is happy with her gain and why not. Other countries have rules that tax property gains of over 10%, this keeps prices more stable and within the affordability of normal people. That would not happen here, it's too late for that. To the older voter contingent it would be a catastrophe, hence no party will do it. We, it seems are now in the hole of basing most of our political decisions on how much individual tax we pay, whoever else it impacts negatively.

Without wanting to be rude, it takes two to make a deal. Unless your inlaws/parents/uncles/aunts etc and everybody else, (including you), are willing to take less money when they sell, these things will always be up to the market to decide. Otherwise tell grandad and granny when they downsize that the have to pay 30% capitol gains tax (as they do in other countries) so that it may help the young. As we all know this will never happen. That's reality.

So, I do hope that if you sell (assuming you own one) your home that you will give back between 25% and 33% as this is about the amount that foreign buyers have pushed up prices in the UK. And as a side issue do you own any Evraz stock? (this is an Evraz BB by the way) you may want to consider that many of it's resources are foreign.
