I didn't realise about JDL was his association with a guy called Roy Nesseth. I always got the impression that JDL was a clever executive with engineering background who aspired to have his own car company, but was driven increasingly bonkers and desperate as events unfolded until he descended into the drug deal in a last desperate attempt to save the car company. If the youtube documentary I watched is to believed he was in fact a cold calculating bounder, a cad and a thoroughly bad sort who just pursued his own greed at any cost (including to vulnerable people) from day one. Proper grade A psycho. Worth a watch. I wont make any comment about Elon Musk, I promise.
The car is, but all accounts, utterly miserable. Chapman has to share the blame for that as he just added a few bits of angle iron to an unworkable design and trousered the development cash. Dont think the addition of a hemi would have really helped, with all that weight in the extreme tail (it wasnt mid engined). Might have made them more collectable as few would have escaped permanently disappearing into the scenery backwards!
I see another AAU Director purchase reported this morning. I used to feel reassured, excited even, by such events. Not sure what to feel now. I shall make a mental note to look for sales about 15/03/2019 then. Let me look in my crystal ball......getting clearer.....I am seeing a bid price 1.20 - 1.30.......

I don't understand, and never have, seen the logic of equity investors suing the company that they own for compensation. Surely any compensation would have to be applied equally across all equity holders. They are effectively suing themselves, any compensation payments would reduce the net asset value of the company and hence the value of the shares that they hold pro rata. Yes if they can sue fraudulent directors for compensation out of their own independent (ie non company) wealth for fraudulent deeds while in office.
Can you explain?

Having met them I honestly don't feel this is a management with any intention of pulling the wool over punters eyes (watched a documentary about John DeLorean last night. Gosh, he was a one wasn't he?? He'd certainly have taken to AIM like a duck to water).
In my opinion there is no chance of returning wealth to investors by way of distributions in the foreseeable future, Net income over the next few years will be tied up either in Capex repayments for Kiziltepe and Tavsan or in exploration costs (mainly at Salinbas but other sites also). Any possible distributions would be trivial.
Return could come in the form of increased SP if the market can be convinced of AAUs virtues, or maybe in the form of a bid by external parties or (more likely) management.
Oddly I may be concerned if a management bid does not appear if this SP persists - they have more idea than anyone what this operation is truly worth, they have control of quite a significant number of shares, so if they arent tempted to bid then maybe this company isnt as attractive as us glass half full types think!

That would indeed be nice Apache but would be impossible. Unlike the Americans we didn't bother to conserve examples of the aircraft that our brave youngsters fought and died in. As far as I a aware, admittedly without looking it up so there may be errors, I do not think there are any Lincolns, Warwicks (or indeed Wellingtons from which it was derived) or for that matter Whirlwinds. After the war our government scrapped virtually everything including unused aircraft. So what is left are a fair few Spitfires, a few Hurricanes, 2 flying Lancasters (worldwide) and some Tiger Moths. I heard a discussion on radio about pensions contributions the other day, specifically in relation to non indexing of the UK pension if you live in certain countries. As part of the discussion the official line apparently was that NI contributions you pay don't give you any entitlement to Pension as they were used solely to pay the current tranche of pensioners (because of non funding) - ie to your mum and dad. Odd argument, since your contribution history ultimately dictates what you receive. And doesn't explain why the UK doesn't index pension paid to pensioners living in Canada or Australia but does to those living in US

Maybe your glass is half fuller (if there is such a word) than mine.
I have to say that if I were a gambling man (which I clearly I, I invest on AIM) I wouldn't put much dosh on AAU being 2p by this Christmas...I'd have my doubts about next Christmas! Nothing to do with news/prospects/management, just bitter experience!

A board like this is whatever the posters make of it. As I have said before I don't like the arguments, so I don't bother to read at that point until they start behaving again. But I don't try and stop them, none of my business.
And so what if off topic subjects are aired? Why not, realistically HUR is like watching paint dry at the moment while the AM makes its way at a (fast) walking pace Northwards.

You are kidding! The auditors of Carillion haven't exactly been censured over their incompetent (corrupt?) signing off the accounts of a huge bankrupt multinational company for several years in a row - despite them employing several thousands of people on important governmental infrastructure projects. So I hardly think the situation here will cause auditors sleepless nights although it undoubtedly should.

Indeed a very sad situation, unfortunately similar to several I have seen over the decades. Always the small investor who gets shafted while others, including the Directors (who must al be culpable to a greater or lesser extent through negligence and/or incompetence if nothing else), get away fairly lightly.
The only thing you can be is philosophic - the business is still running and on a sounder financial footing now. It is not the sort of business that will suffer from lack of consumer confidence over this and go into a death spiral - unlike a troubled airline which no one dares book with once problems arise. You sell coffee and nice cakes, if the shops have them in the window the consumers will buy as before. Your chairman, who whether you like him or not at the moment has a previously good record, will now focus his attention on this business. that has to be good news.
When is it expected to re list? I do think this could be a reasonable investment going forward.

ps despite what I just said about costs, I am still apprehensive how the significant increase in oil price will affect an energy hungry operation like AAU. May find out soon when the financial result are released - next couple of weeks?

In my opinion (as a Brit who likes his beer flat, not too cold, possibly with unidentifiable things floating in it), Budweisers success is merely a prime example of the power of marketing. If you drink enough of it you get squiffy and fall over, that's about all it has going for it.

AAU, well if it wasn't for the bid/offer spread I think you could make the case for going away and coming back this time next year. I do (seriously, told you I was glass half full!) think that a sequence of good financial figures over the next year will help. We know that is almost nailed on because the ore is pretty much already mined, and what isn't is coming from a particularly rich seam. Therefore unless costs explode for some reason (doubtful, lira/$ now seems stable at 0.18 compared to 0.26 this time last year), or POG plummets, then 4 quarters of good figures are very likely.
